NEW! Aluminum valve covers!

These aggressive-looking valve covers and oil caps will really set off your engine compartment! Starting out as a 49lb. piece of solid billet aluminum, they are CNC machined into lightweight works of art! They are available in the "Lethal" format for our Lethal customers, the "Viper V10" format for others, and are alodine finished for durability. We can also customize them with your logo or font for an extra $400-$500, depending on complexity. Oil caps can also be customized. Also note that our valve covers are much more easily powdercoated or painted than the stock magnesium valve covers.
$1,175.00 for a set of valve covers and oil cap. (Gen 3 logo available!)
If you have any questions or would like to purchase a set, just let me know!

Re: NEW! Aluminum valve covers!

Bill - did you get a new CNC machine for Christmas?
They are expensive - and you can spend a lot of time programming them -
but once they're set up - they can sure make a toothpick out of a chunk of
aluminum.

Imagine those things in chrome. Do you sell those with no engraving? Just plain?

Here's the same answer I gave over on .org:
These valve covers are built up to a standard, not down to a price. The design of them took roughly 60-70 hours on a CAD program, then roughly 50 hours to machine the first ten sets. We had to do lots of trial fittings and revisions as well, so it was very labor-intensive. To recoup all the R&D and machining costs, they _should_ cost about $1,700, but we're trying to make them more appealing to the majority of Viper owners.
I've already sold three sets, so for those of you who've purchased the covers, THANKS A LOT!!

As for making them blank, I suppose we could. You mean just with the ribs? They'd look awesome chromed as well, but we haven't done that yet. I think you should buy a set and have it done!!

Re: NEW! Aluminum valve covers!

I worked as an apprentice at a machine shop for over 3 years. I know what that hunk of billet cost, and then the time to make one of those into a valve cover. But first you must design it before you can go to the CNC machine.

I showed this to my old boss and he said he would not touch that job for what APEX is selling them for.

I think they are one hell of a nice piece of work. :thumb:

Absolutely! If installed at the same time as one of our Lethal packages, I'd discount the valve covers and oil filler cap 15%!
I assume since you're asking, you're interested in having us install a Lethal package. Let's talk! I'm at home today, but give me a call at the shop tomorrow, or shoot me an email to: bill@apexmotorsports.com
Thanks, RedSnakeGTS! (P.S.--are you RR?)

Sounds like an awful long time to me. Did that include time for programming the tool paths as well, or just defining the basic 3D model?

They are very nice pieces!

Re: NEW! Aluminum valve covers!

I tried to log on to Imagestation this morning, and it's down for "maintenance." I assume the pics will be available again later. I have a couple more to post as well, so you can see more detail. Stay tuned!

They would look good with the white area painted red to match the rest of the engine.
