Apparently there's a way to disable the AWD system if one chooses to mark their territory

That does not work at all. If you look in the vid they even explain that the engineers put in a special code in the PCM programming to disable it for that event so they could do a burnout.

The only way to disable the transfercase is to get under the car and disconnect the tranny control module, or order a bypas.
