I couldn't believe I got that close to tens. This was the first time I ran the truck at high boost, about 14 pounds I think..... The pass went good all the way down.
I waited an hour or so and wanted to do it again and see if I could get to the tens. I did not change anything the the boost controller I was just going to try to do better off of the line.
Well, it was all going good then 3/4 down it puked. I got it back home and taken apart and found this:
it arced right out of cylinder 3. So now my truck looks like this
I have found a few things done to the motor that I will improve like better hardware and such. I may have a few questions for John Hennessey, I hope I can get some help from him.
I got that problem fixed when I removed the journal bearing turbos and put on ball bearing turbos. The truck was smoking because the oil was not getting out of the turbo fast enough and was backing up. With the new turbos it requires a lot less oil to help cool and lubracate because of the water jackets. I have been running the truck all summer to the tune of about 10K miles and no smoke.(knock on wood for the future)
Yep this was my old ride.....Paul I hope all goes well for you and your rebuild and I hope you get many enjoyable hours in this truck when it is complete....I would also ask that you let me know what you find when taking it apart.....curious as to what all was installed vs. what I paid for.......I hope it all checks out.

Hearing this wouldn't be making me feel great if I was in Pauls shoes, Walt.
not sure they can deck that thing down that much. Or fill it in if decking isn't a possibility. I would make that pic your avatar with Hennescreweds phone number beneath it.

I gave Paul a VERY GOOD deal on this truck vs what I had in it......and I did my best to help him with some issues he had after the truck was sold........now that it is apart and being rebuilt I wonder if the parts on the truck were what was represented to me when I paid for all the up-grades.......and yes I did have over 100K in the truck.

Don't get me wrong Walt. I am SURE you gave him a fantastic deal on the truck. Just not too sure it is so fantastic to him at this point in time.

I am with ya........what real good would it do?.....just make me mad and Paul sad.......it was a learning experience all the way around.......you should have seen the paperwork I asked Kevin and KC to sign before we did begin work on my viper.....ask him about that sometime.........but I totally trust both of those guys and have even paid my total bill up-front...

Considering it blew out part of the block (and probably the head gasket) but the piston survived.....I'd say you got what you paid for on the pistons, at least.
