I've said this before but why wasn't it a Dakota QC or RC with the V-10 with a T56 or auto? DC didn't wanna miss the 1/2 ton shooutout I guess.
There was a guy up at Gingerman Raceway that had a Dakota R/T with a First Gen Viper motor in it... It was sweet to be sure. I used to see it there all the time at Viper meets. He always seemed to be breaking things on it tho.
In Canada we never got the Typhoon. The Syclone, I don't know as I've never seen one. Not on the street, not for sale, nowhere.
Saw a Typhoon years ago downrown. The guy had his window down and I said "you can';t GET those here..." He looks at me and smiles and says "That's right." LOL.
There is a Typhoon in our Old Car Trader right now too so there are a few. I don't know how they got here but there is one of two anyways.
It's VERY doubtful many people even know what they are.
They hook, they're light, and they're GONNNNNNNNNE...
Slight mods, forget about it...
Basicallly Grand Nationals in an Suv/ Truck form...
Been waiting for several years for another company to replicate this and hasn't happened.
Ford Lightning, fast
Dodge Viper motor truck, fast.
Neither one will touch a Syclone or a Typhoon with even the slightest mods..
And they are teh ULTIMATE sleepers.... VERY FUCKING COOL...
Noone knows what the hell they are...
I don't understand why the Amercian companies have gotten away from the Turbocharged cars, which in the Mid 80's totally dominated !!!!
Grand National, GNX, Turbo Trans Am, Syclone and Typhoon....
For the past several years the Asian companies realize this and have been doing it ever since..
And we started it ???!!!!!!!!!! WTF?????!!!
Subaru wrx pos
Evo pos
Supra, modded respectful
Nissan 300 zx never gets respect for some reason
Dodge played with it the the Mitsu 3000 GTR4 and Dodge Stealth RT...
My question ??
Why in the hell did the US go away from this ???
Yeah, the roots style blowers are great, but in comparsion with a turbocharger done correctly, they don't compare.
I know they're tapping on it with the new Dodge Neons.... Ok...
But this needs to be applied to the beasts....
Viper turbo stock fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk yes
Vette turbo stock fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk yes
Escalade with a turbo, Yukon, etc...... funnnnnnnnnnnnn
All of the SRT cars.... the goddamned compression is low enough ???
PUT A FUCKING TURBOCHARGER ON THE CAR AND ALL OF THE RICER MARKET WITH BUY THESE CARS UP LIKE THEY ARE GOING EXTINCT...
( Yes I'm a marketing guy )...
But clearly the Asians get it, look at the sales....
TURBOCHARGE THESE FUCKING CARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sales ???! I personally guarantee a 25 percent increase in a year....
We all win..
Roots style blowers, yeah, they're cool, nice. etc..
But the economics involved...
It's so cheap to mod a turbo and gain significant results, that is what the market wants NOW....
Listen, I'm old school totally... Big cam, ported heads, high gears, stall converter, nitrous = ANIMAL....
Everyday cars??
Fuck, Chevy wants to throw a roots blower on their 'blue devil' ???
Cool...
Their compression is far too high and IMO I think their pushing it by even attempting this without knowing specifics...
Dodge ??
LOWER COMPRESSION...
THROW A FUCKING TURBOCHARGER ON THE CAR....
Not only will this car ANNIHILATE EVERYTHING on the road but it will be settting a new / old precedent....
Hell, let's face it, the Vipers sound like shit due to the firing order so a down pipe will keep it silent and it will be gonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnne...
SRT ????!!!!!
If any of you sick bastards read this, DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make history before we get a democrat in office soon and the HP wars end and it's all about hybrid haushit and most likely fines / extra fees if you have a fast car etc...
It's coming...
Fuck em.. Do it !!!!!!!!!!!
Viper could be the last true beast for years !!!!!!!!!! Turbocharge the fuck !!!
I watched a guy with a Scyclone just clean up at a few roundy round tracks I visit. Either asphault or dirt, during the spectator races (2 laps from a dig, in pairs) he was holding the trophy at the end of the night. It wasn't just an acceleration monster, the thing could handle, too.
see the odd syclone and typhoon come up for sale in the mags over here every no and then. I always had respect for their stock figures. sub 5's to 60 in an 80's truck is no joke! Only thing that ever bothered me was things going pop. Id imagine it would be a pricey engine to fix

Actually the Syclone was built in 1991 (Typhoon's in 1992/93).
One of the promotional ads for the Syclone was "Zero to Sixty in 4.6 seconds...In the rain."
I have always loved them. I wanted to get one at one time but ended up getting a Lightning instead.
Love the L too, it is one of my favorite vehicles ever. I can haul my mulch in it and/or take it to the strip all in the same day, awesome truck. They are very easily modded to make crazy power too.
The Sy/Ty's are great trucks they haul ass ass with the right amount of mods. But there is some problems with them. Look at the market on them they're holding their values very well. If you own one and you want to sell it you can pretty much name the price. Grand Nationals, GNX, TTypes, and 89 Turbo Trans Am's are all wicked machines. All of them can be modded fairly cheap! There's no way I can play with a mild modded SY/TY....

Great point. I have a GNX and a Turbo T/A (1989). Always looking for a Typhoon or Syclone to add to the collection. They are only going up in value every day.
About five years ago I bought a perfect ’93 TY with ~10k miles on it. I used it as a driver and put around 10k miles on it over a year and a half before selling. It rode and handled pretty well, and was definitely fast out of the hole. It was definitely early ‘90’s tech – plenty of rattles and sort of cheesy but comfy leather interior. Overall it was great, but one day someone wanted it more than I did and paid me more than I thought it was worth. I ended up having my fun and making a few thousand, but still miss it.
No real years to pick - they only made them in '92 and '93. They run out of breath once you get to highway speeds, but out of the line on street tires they are pretty much unbeatable stop light to stop light.
i have a line on a very low mileage, one owner typhoon....white and gray, some recent updates....i will get pricing tomorrow, let me know if interested.....
i also know the whereabouts of a one of one, typhoon four door concept

I work for a local HVAC company here in Reno, NV. Well, anyways last week we were doing some heater maintence for the property managers at their wharehouse facilities.
One of the units had the following cars and trucks. I personally counted 18 Typhoons and 16 Syclones inside this one unit. My brother had a Typhoon before he got married and I know they are pretty rare. Well, whoever rents this unit has got a lot of them. Anyways, here's some spy pics.
