Belt shredded

The belt shredded on our RamSRT/10 yesterday. I wasn't at high rpm and only about 45mph. The truck has 7500 miles on it now. I was told our truck and Viper are not in the Vin#'s that have the cam bolt problem but now I am starting to wonder. OH well it is at the dealer we will see what the problem is.

427,
I think the cam bolt recall was a separate issue than what probably happened to you. There has been a number of CRANK bolts working loose on the Ram SRT10s. Not sure if the Viper SRT10s have the same issue.

I believe DC went to a larger crank bolt to solve the issue but some are still working loose. I had the dealer retorque mine when they were looking at some other issues and it was still tight, but I only have 3800 miles. i have heard of 5 or 6 others working loose.

Hope they get you squared away.

Thanks! I will know more tomorrow. Yeah I dumbassed on that, I was looking at the different recalls and typed cam bolt instead of crank bolt.

Did the crank get damaged, or can the pulley just be re-installed? They really should have key-wayed the damned things.

Hopefully they'll use more loctite this time than the factory did.

He said it backed off just enough to let the pully move. I am taking the Viper in this week to have it checked too.

They did use loctite when he put it back in.

Cool. Glad it wasn't too bad. I've heard of some damaging the crank and needing a new short block or new crank. That would suck.
