Looks like a 'give away' for an '05 SRT-10 Quad Cab ...

I was at the dealer auction today, and there was a sweet silver SRT-10 QC with 11,000 miles up for grabs. I've never looked at the resale on these things, but I did know the MSRP was north of $50K.

Get this - They couldn't get a single bid on the truck at $29K. WTF? They started at $34K, walked it down $1K each step, and it still didn't sell. I asked a local Dodge dealer why a perfect condition SRT-10 Quad truck wouldn't bring $29K.

His reply - Because you just can't retail the damn things without giving them away. I came home and checked eBay, and saw dealers with Buy It Now prices just over $32K for trucks with only 2-3K miles. It sure looks like a TON of truck to me for that kind of cash.

What's the scoop with these things? I'm tempted to buy one just for the fun of having it ... But I don't want to not have any resale potential if the market just isn't kind to a 500+ hp truck.

No resale on them with gas the way it is now but I bought ours to keep so I didn't care about resale. It is a lot of fun. We have the rc 6 spd. If you want to tow anything buy the qc auto.

I would be buying it to keep, but I have a history of buying things and then reselling them. I need to work on that :-)

It just seems like a steal to me at the current prices these trucks bring. If I weren't already too deep into my floor plan financing, I would have scooped that SRT-10 up today.

I just bought a brand new 05 Black Quad cab with Nav, etc for 35K from Woodhouse. Great buyers market for these trucks.

I paid 42K on a $54,500 sticker 10 months ago. My truck has every option except UConnect. Love it.

After going for a ride in my truck yesterday, my neighbor is flying to Indianapolis today to pickup a new 05 Reg Cab for 34k.

A dealership there has 9 to chose from.

There was a red 04 at the Auburn Cord Dusenburg auction last weekend with ~5k miles and he wanted 25ish for it.

05 quads, sunroof, navi tonneau 2k-3k miles sell 27-29
06 quads, sunroof,navi,rear dvd, tonneau 2k-3k miles 31-32

sales got so crappy on these that they let the field reps drive them, hence so many at auction.

I owned one for a few months too, put headers, exhaust, computer,ram air and the truck was a screamer.

I get 9 mpg around town. The trip computer is about 1 mpg optimistic (shows 10.0 mpg).

Call Woodhouse Dodge, they had 1 more about a month ago when I bought my QC.

Enough to beat my ol mans 06 SRT-8 charger in the 1/4 mile. I am getting right at 11.8 mpg, that is just commuting back and for to the office, 9 miles each way. I was down to 10.4 when I was racing the Charger though..

I know of 2 new 05's in Vegas both silver 0 miles if you can go w/o black.

I just traded my Tundra for a brand new leftover 05 Black Quad Cab. Tempe Dodge here in AZ had them for $34,987 (I was able to negotiate some). They bought 10 at auction and sold 6 (including mine, and I know it's true because I watched 4 sell while working on my deal) on Saturday. The trucks were sold as used vehicles "as is" because they were "put in service" prior to auctioning them (as a result my warranty started on 6/28/06 even though I bought the truck on 9/09/06). Supposedly only sold the DCX dealers (I don't believe that) and supposedly they were trucks sitting at a lot waiting to be shipped to the gulf coast before Katrina hit (not sure if this is true).

At any rate I LOVE the truck. Gas mileage on the computer says I'm getting ~10.8 MPG (yes shitty but I didn't buy this thing for the gas mileage

Now it's time to look for some mods!

If anyone is interested in a similar deal they should call Tempe Dodge as they said they were planning on going to the auction tomorrow (Tuesday 9/12) to possibly buy another 15 trucks.
