Just bought a 2004 Dodge Ram SRT. I have escaped from the SVT world. Former Cobra and Lightning owner. First impression is "wow"...I am truely amazed by the power of this truck. Of course I bring it home and the first thing my wife says is why'd you have to get red? I mean it just screams "look at me"...I said yeah and your point is...
Well the fact is red was the only color my Dodge dealer had and besides I thought 33k for a 04 truck with 8800 miles was a pretty good deal.
This dealer had it sitting on their lot for almost ninety days. They first listed it at 39,999. As the weeks went by I kept seeing it slowly drop in price. This week they had it listed at 33,999. I went in today and said if they could go 33k I'd take it. After some back and forth they ended up giving me a $1000 more for my Cobra than I owed and that I was asking for in autotrader. So to me the drive out price was equel to 33k.
Lightning was easier to drive. But hey, what fun is there in just stomping on the gas. I'd much rather drive a stickshift. However, shifting in the SRT isn't like it was in my cobra. The gears seam much closer and yes I've already missed third.
I have no doubt in a week or so I'll be confident with that aspect. As far as look goes there is no comparison. The SRT is a beast. I love the size of the stock wheels. I always thought the Lightning wheels were too small. The SRT interior
is far superior as is the sound system. Give me some time to report back on handling and 1/4 mile comparisons.
