2005 NSX replacement?

At the upcoming Tokyo Motorshow, Honda will be showing an impressive concept vehicle which may provide hints of the upcoming replacements for the NSX.

In the press release for the show, the Honda HSC Concept is dubbed as a high performance sport coupe which "offers the driving pleasure of a sports car in a package that anyone can handle." From the photo that's been released, it bears a strong resemblance to the many "spy shots" and artists renderings of the expected replacement for the NSX.

I like it. It would make a great commuter car and grocery getter.

ENZO and 360 ripoff. I see nothing has changed.

And 300 h.p.? Hell the Volvo R Wagon has 300 H.P.

First thing I thought when I saw it - 360 Modena. I agree w/ Craig on this one. Looks good though.

Re: 2005 NSX replacement?

I'm surprised that Honda actually built a real full concept car like this, because it is a shameless clone using design elements of both the Ferrari 360 and Enzo.

And the engine under Lexan looks like a regular dull Honda drivetrain.
The point of being able to see the engine is to have something really cool to look at, not just a view of and uninspired gray valve cover and heat shielding.

Still, with so little real news about the NSX's replacement at least this shows that they are thinking about building a supercar. Hopefully it will have at least 500HP, and be under 3000lbs. And come out soon.

Re: 2005 NSX replacement?

geez..why don't they just buy a 360 and put Honda emblems on the thing.

nice looking car though.

needs more HP. If Honda is going to build a high end production sports car today...400HP would be the lowest I would put in the thing.

I agree. The car has elements of alot of the current exotics. I think the front has some resemblance to the current Lamborghinis and the side wondow profile screams Enzo. Overall size seems similar to Modena. At least they're picking great cars to base the styling from. This is so far out of the box for Honda/Acura I gotta give them some credit. The price/performance ratio may not be there, but I certainly wouln't turn one down.

To me it looks more like a Murcielago than the 360. I actually like the look, but I too would like to see around 375 to 400 bhp. IMHO it looks way better than the previous NSX. I am not a fan of Honda, but this could be a step in the right direction for them.

Seriously though its another underpowered, underengined Honda. 300hp only??..This is the flagship so why no v8??The WRX has 300hp...The FX45 has 315hp, Escalade has 345hp...The Benz's have way over 400hp....Why would I buy a car at that price when so many other more plebian cars have more power..Can you imagine buying one and rolling off the lot and running into a Benz at the stop light or highway???.Id buy a used 360 Modena and get the real thing with more power to boot.....Its gonna be owned by most exotic cars new and old...Looks like the two domestic supercars aint got nothin to worry about...Even the C5/Z06 will out gun it badly...

I hope you are right and its getting 400hp..That would be better but still not enough...

I'd consider one if it looked good in person. Put red to it and it would really look like a 360.

Re: 2005 NSX replacement?

im pretty sure its going to have 400 h.p. from a 4.0 V8, i could be wrong, but unlikely. Only time will tell. That car looks nice, and Acura quality is almost 2nd to none. For a daily driver, that thing would be badass. Comfortable, decently fast, limited production, and major gawk factor. Imagine that car rolling up on you, i know everyone here would give a glance or two, or three.

Rumor has it, it will stay around the 85-90k price range, for that amount it would not be my first pick of cars, but it would be up there. It will be a better bargain than current NSX's. just my

rice is good for you, i eat some everyday.

Re: 2005 NSX replacement?

Supposedly it is rumored to have at least 300HP+ from the engine, aided by a 100HP electric motor (which adds low-end torque).

Personally, I think that a supercar hybrid is cool because it's a great showcase for mixed-motor technologies, and you could have a truly fast car AND 40MPG.

The tough part is that unless the car is WELL under 3000lbs, 400HP will not inspire many people to shell out $100K

The $50K Cadillac CTSv has 400HP/400TQ, and the similarly priced C6 Corvette promises 425HP and 3100lbs weight, so having a similarly performing $100K Enzo clone won't sell any better than the current NSX after you weed out the poser/cruisers.

Re: 2005 NSX replacement?

I'm luke warm on the looks. Too much Enzo and 360 Modena in it. But if it's a hybrid sports car "ITS ABOUT TIME!". With electric motors for low end that thing will scream. It will give Vipers a run for the money.

The technology was slated for F1 but they quickly banned it because it would be way too much of an advantage for teams that had it.
