and a top speed of 252. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 turned some heads this weekend. Hard to believe Volkswagon owns it.....the ultimate rice car.

Obviously not on the street (and no wind, etc...) - but last weekend I wanted to see a high speed run on the dyno... The dyno machine shut off when I hit 199.7mph... I was still on the top of 5th...

The Veyron is not a track car like the Enzo but as a road car it will raise the bar beyind anything anyone else has done - the sound of that 1000hp W16 is said to be spine tingling! Can't wait to see them released and tested.

JUST TO PUT THAT NUMBER INTO PERSPECTIVE. A REALLY REALLY FAST STREET CAR MIGHT DO 0-150 IN 14 SEC. TO GAIN ANOTHER 30 MPH IN THE SAME TIME FRAME IS REALLY HARD TO COMPREHEND. IF VW (BUGATTI) SAYS THEY CAN DO IT, THEN I DONT DISPUTE IT. BUT THAT IS A NUMBER THAT IS SO FAR OUT THERE, IT REALLY IS HARD TO BELEIVE.

What does it weigh?? Whats the cd?? Looks like it gonna be more than 3400lbs..

A 900rwhp DLM Viper can hit 140+ in about 10secs[traction limited]. No way its gonna be doing 180mph 4 sec later...I doubt the number they are quoting on the Veyron as well...That cars gotta be super light or makin alot more than 1000hp and have an incredible drag coeficient do those numbers...

The 800hp Vipers that did the mile did 191-200 in the mile....The Veyron is supposed to spank them? [img]/images/graemlins/freak3.gif[/img]

I gotta see that before I believe it. With the current specs they are giving Im skeptical..

Wouldnt that make the Veyron a low 8sec 1/4 mile car? And its awd...The numbers are too insane..

Actually, I think my car was making in the neighborhood of 770 RWHP on 9 PSI @ 3,000 FT, maybe slightly less as I was running a little fat. The only place the Veyron will spanl them will be in the 0-100 MPH and might be slightly faster 100-150. The Veyron will weigh in at around 3500-3600#. I think the Veyron does 0-100 in the neighborhood of 4-5 seconds==> Can you say AWD and quite a juicy power band for quad turbos? I remember reading it has full boost @ 3,000 RPM and sustains it to redline. The 960 RWHP LPE TT Vette that ran 8.95 hit 60 MPH in 1.99 and 100 MPH in 4.4 seconds on slicks. If the Veyron does 100-150 in 4-5 more seconds(I believe this is quite possible from my own experience pulling the entire 4th gear 100-150 in just under 6 seconds). Now we're at 9-10 seconds to 150 MPH. Can it do 36 more MPH in 4-5 more seconds? I am not sure about that.....I do not think the CD is that much better than the Viper......I would say not... I believed it was possible before, but after this analysis, I believe John is correct. ==> NO F'ffing WAY! The car will, however, launch like a mother with the AWD and will shift very quickly with the sequential paddle shift transmission.

I have in mind to get the silly diamond off the dashboard when I get my veyron.
I like the spec and exterior, but the interior is too wussy.
I may have to go Remster on that one too.

Remster, I have no doubt that you can pull off getting Buigatti with your determination and a little luck. Please, please don't let Lassen paint it.

Did you guys here about the fastest viper ever... The hennessey performance viper..It goes 8.93 for the 1/4 mile and that is streetable.Could you imagine driving that on the street.An 8 sec viper could take anything on the street.
