Saw the Top Gear show last night with the M3 and C63 going head to head. I am looking for a sedan daily driver and like what Merc did on their redesign. I know from these boards that AMG's go crashing down in value, but a lot of you also like them for drivers, so do you just write off the depreciation as a cost of doing business and pay their price, or can these things be had for steep discounts.

Nice choice. I've considered a new C63 as a DD. The MB depreciaition curve is a tough pill to swallow though.
How about the new M3 sedan? I saw the same episode and though the C63 had ungodly torque and was loads of fun, the M3 still won in the end. It will probably hold more of it's value too. Oh, and you can get a real manual trans too.
BTW, didn't I read another post that you were looking at ACRs? You're really cleaning house on the car front.

Yes, an ACR is on order, but need a daily driver, the one I have now doesn't excite me. Yeah the M3 won, but Clarkson looked like he had more fun.
.....buy a pre-owned E55 or CLS55.......save money, get more car and miss the big depreciation hit..........
So it seems if you want a merc you have to resign yourself to losing value very fast.
I looked at a '05 S55, original list over $130k going for about $50 now, but its an old man car in my eyes, and even though I'm a grandfather, I'm not old dammit!
It really does not stop till around 4 years or so, especially AMG's. If a body change occured, then the values drop twice as bad. That is why the CL's and S classes are are some of the best values out there right now.
