E55, what mods to make it over 600hp?

hey va,

after long search and lots of opinions from va, i am thinking about getting used e55. I really like new cts-v but that is long wait from now and my lease is up in febuary. M5 makes great sound and shifting is lighting fast but it is so ugly. Also, M5 cost 15g more over e55.

Anyway, I have been searching for e55 modifications and there are many companies. My goal is to make around 600+hp with bolt ons. who is the best
e55 tuning company? what do i need to do to make 600+hp?

This is what i found out.
supercharger pulley, ecu flash, headers, midpipe, exhaust, intercooler upgrade???

thanks

for my CLS55 i went with RENNtech great people to deal with.

due to my busy work schedule i installed the ECU and CF airbox only.

pulley and headers hopefully this week, they do have package 5 with 579hp and package 6 with 650HP. hope this helps.

I don't know about that one buddy. ( not married) Maybe you can keep it a secret and sneak out to drive it every now and then!!!!

Or just get you a little pop up trailer for the kids and tow it around for them on the back of the viper!

That is an idea. I have seen them around 70s. My biggest problem with nice car is that, my wife doesn't take care of them. my 2007 GL450 going back to mercedes as lemon car and 2006 750LI returning after lease, I have decided to buy something used in 40s. Good thing about this is that my wife does not care long as it is safe car. Plus i can do lots of mods.

the cl65 is the most solid car i have ever owned. like driving an tank...

unfortunately they cannot be had in the 40's. if you are going amg, supercharged or twin turbo, please for the love of god make sure you have warranty

v8hunter, If you want a used car in the 40's, you cant go wrong with the E55 AMG. Make sure the tranny is in good shape. A pulley, exhaust, chip and intake should be good for at least 100 rwhp. You would be just under your 650 goal, add a 75 wet shot and you would get just over 75 rwhp and 150+ ft.lbs. torque because of the wonderful effects blowers add to nitrous. A 75 shot is pretty safe for a V8 even supercharged being such a small shot. You can probably do it all with less than $3K. That would run some good times on drag radials and a comfortable 5 passenger low 11/high 10 sedan

ps, the intercooler upgrade would be a good idea if your going to be running it hard (ie: always hitting full boost). If you run the mods on a stock intercooler system, the car will start to get hot and you'll lose a couple of hp between runs. I bigger heater exchanger with a high flow pump should take care of any heat issues you may get.

Today I did some homework and found other alternative to e55. It is not a mercedes but cadillac cts-v. I have talked with friend of mine who is well known LS1 or chevy tuner in maryland. Long story short, stock short block with bolt ons(intake, heads, headers, cam, TB, Full exhaust, tune etc...), 2005 cts-v 6.0L should make around 500rwhp in NA form. His cadi with 427 stroker and th400 made 550rwhp. He thinks same setup with 6sp should make over 630rwhp in NA form. All this would come out around 10G.

I really like mercedes and just found perfect car around the corner but this cts-v with motor work sounds like most bad ass DD.

A 427 for 10g's ain't gonna happen most likely. You're lookin at closer to $12k, and that'd be doing it cheap w/cheap heads. Plus you have to look at a better clutch and a beefed up rearend (that's a major weak point for the CTS-V). In all reality, getting everything done for under $15k would be difficult unless you do the work yourself. But for the money you'd have in it total, it's be well worth it. And on the flip side, having a nasty loping cadi would be sweet!!

It'd be pretty difficult to keep the drivability, stock shortblock, and make 500rwhp all at once. His 427 TH400 CTS-V either made 550 w/ nitrous, or his setup cost a bit more than 10g. Same for the 630 N/A for a 6spd. Vengeance Racing does sell a 440ci longblock that has put down 610-630 in a Z06(I believe price was 12-13k). The cam in that may have been a bit more than you'd want to put in a DD. But that would all be up to you. The duration was huge, but the lift was reasonable so the valvetrain would live easier.

That's all IMO though and I wouldnt doubt that the right combinations are out there, so good luck whichever way you go

Edit: +1 on the above comment about the weak rearends. Some are luckier than others though
