Z06 and gears

For those who have similar power outputs as the Z06 and have replaced your gears (3.55, 3.73, etc), is the Z06 still quick with all other things being equal. The reason I ask is because I hear alot of talk that the Z06 is quicker because its geared different and weights less. So pretty much, if your viper is making the same power and you have upgraded your gears, is your performance (straight line) just as quick if not quicker then the Z06?

stock to stock... my 02 Z06 405hp went 12.00@119mph and my 01 RT-10 450hp went 12.19@122. I had more mph in my viper but a hell of a better 60ft in the Z06.

z06 still has the advantage in the rpms. It revs to 7000 rpms, vs. 6000 for the viper; consequently it can use more gearing since it can rev higher.
Putting gears on a viper will make you hit 5th at 125-130 mph, where te Z06 will be in 4th gear... guess who is going to get pulled?

Depends on what gears you put in the Viper. The Z06 and the GEN3 Viper have almost identical trans ratios. At 121 mph on the track , I am on the edge of 3rd and barely hitting 4th. 3.55's will put you in the middle of 4th as you cross the line.

F'in TC. I;ve heard the Quaife differential helps the Viper with Traction, just a bit pricey though

Quaife doesn't help at the drag strip except maybe to help keep your rear in one piece. The Quaife excels in the road race. It has a smoother power transfer and will help stop your rear from coming out when power is snapped on fast coming out of a turn.

I put 3.55's in my '06 coupe and can still do 135+ in 4th.

Hopefully I'll get to the strip soon!
