I know, I know, I have been starting a shitload of threads about getting/looking at/ thinking about a new car. I made a decision, and I am going to pick up a 2008 Subaru Legacy 2.5i with a five speed.
They are a good deal as they sit, and there is $1,250 cash back on them right now. I will be out the door for about $19,000. Thats a bunch of car for not a bunch of money.
My only problem is turning in the Jeep. It is off lease December 23 (the last payment is due in about two weeks). I know they are going to give me a hard time, since the tires are about shot, and there is a $350 turn in fee. Anyone have any experience coming off lease with Chrysler Financial?
I have limited experience with Subaru since I have only had my STi for a month, but my experience so far is very positive. They build a hell of a nice car for the money. The AWD is crazy fun. Enjoy her in good health.
Buy the cheapest tires you can for the Jeep so it does not cost you more in the long run. Cheap cheap maybe even used.
I was reviewing all the of lease turn-in and lease info I have, and it looks like the tires need only be "legal". I think I might toss some used tires on it so it passes inspection and then turn it in next month. Used rubber should run me about $150.

Did you consider a turbo model? If so, how much more out the door? I'm looking at new cars in the 18-24K range right now.... If I go new, it will be a good reliable sedan that holds its value. To be honest, though, with all the monster hills around my area a 4-cylinder is a no-go unless it has a turbo. Kicking around a Camry SE V6, Accord V6, Legacy GT. Suggestions welcome....
