What do you guys think is the best daily driver for under $10,000? The car would be driven all year round, snow, rain, etc and driven 40 miles each way to work. Im just looking for ideas, I want a car/truck that will do good on gas as well as be good in the snow. The car/truck must also seat at least 4 people.
A few cars I have thought of....
92-97 Lexus SC300 (just sold mine, lol)
98-01 Audi a4-s4
00 SVT contour
92 GMC typhoon
what else do you guys have that would fit the budget suggested. I could spend more but I drive my viper 99% of the time and I have an 88 ford bronco II but I want something better on gas for the long work commute. The bronco is more of a fun off road beater.
Buy a vespa if you want something good on gas and under 10k, lol. They have a deal going right now "buy a vespa, get free gas for a year". The funny thing is they estimate free gas at $150 for the whole year.
The typhoon is a cool truck but they tend to have a lot of problems. I have a little svt focus as a beater and its a pretty fun little car. If you are just looking for a reliable car something like a used maxima is a good deal. If you want something fun then thats a different story.
If you want something for under 10k that will be a reliable daily commuter and get good gas mileage get a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. Those two vehicles will be trouble free until your grand children get their drivers licenses!
I somewhat agree with the Ford Taurus. You can pick up an 05 or 06 with no mileage for close to 10k. If you don't care about taking a dump on resale and plan on driving it to 100k or beyond then that is a good choice. Comfort, safety, etc.. all for very little. Its a Ford and a POS, but its a big comfy car that will get you to work for several years without major failure.
Id like to find something that is kinda rare or unique though... the typhoon is what I want but they are a lot of $ for the age and reliability... the rx300 seems like the best bet but Ive heard rumors of oil sludge buildup on the early models, etc.
If you are going that route buy a higher mileage Gs300 or SC300. Bulletproof and you can probably get some well taken care of cars in you price range. A 98-02 GS300 with 80k miles should be in you range.
