Need help researching Ford engines and looking for leads

My father and I are going to be building a Ford 34 cabriolet from Street Beasts shortly and we'd love to use a Ford small block or a Ford 427. Disclaimer, I don't know sh*t about Fords other than I'd like the block that the GT is using! Our planned budget would be around 4-6K, so we won't be purchasing a top of the line block, but if a wrecked Cobra Stang appeared somewhere, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to grab it.

Any leads on new or used Ford performance blocks is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay K.

Much more stuff available for small block Ford engines-which can go up to about 427ci (or more) with a stroker and overbore I think.

Original 427s are in the FE family, ranging from 332-428ci over the years. There's been some heads etc made for them over the last few years, but with all the stuff made for the 5.0 class, there'd have to be more aftermarket, and just as much power-if not more, for the newer small block engines over the 60's engines.

I think there were quite a few SBF with aftermarket heads in the Jeg's engine challenge this last time.
