I didn't do much this weekend. Still got tied up with work. I did make progress on the fuel side of things.
When I bought my car, it back fired a bit and I could always smell gas pretty strong. It wasn't coming out of any fuel lines, but from the exhaust.
When I took my headers off, I noticed that some of my exhaust ports were black with soot and others were clean. What this told me was that I was running rich in some banks and running good in others. I took out my 12 fuel injectors and thought I would have them bench tested and cleaned. Come to find out 6 of them were on the mark, 1 was bad with a open pindle which flowed twice as much than the others and the other 5 were within 10-15% of each other in flow. Well this explains some of my issues with the fuel situation! No wonder why I kept throwing an O2 sensor code! Good to know this! Now I looked to get some new injectors from lamborghini and damn! Those injectors are like $300 plus a piece. So If i got 12 new ones I would be looking at $3600.00...so I decided to find an alternative.
I found out our injectors are high impedance. Ohm reading was about 15-17 ohms resistance. Fuel pressure on the Diablo is 2.5 bars which equals about 36 psi. Out stock weber injectors flow at 19lbs at 36 psi of pressure. I have found that the Bosch Injector for the Ford Mustang (Mustard yellow top injectors) will sork on our car. I can garauntee that the Bosch injectors are way more superior to ours we have in the Lamborghini and they will also fit our rails and intake bungs. This would be a huge savings than buying the OEM lambo injectors. Plus you get the reliability of Bosch on top of that. It's not uncommon for the Lambo injectors to flow different numbers all over the place and they do go bad easily. I wanted to post this even though I have no pictures to let you guys know what's up! So the mystery of the injectors is gone! I got my set of 19PSI injectors on it's way and I spent less than $300 for all 12 of them new!
I wanted to show you guys that my SV wing conversion was a direct bolt on wing. I like it alot better than the 92 wing I had on it. It gives the car even a lower look to it. Obivously it looks weird because it's not painted, but as you can see it fits great!
This fiberglass wing is still for sale since I am going carbon Fiber.
I haven't done much to the engine. I have George Evans Auto doing my Pinion upgrade as we speak. I will be digging more into it when I get all my things back. It's pretty cool having a person like Evans Auto somewhat close to you just in case.
Here is a review of where it came from to where it is now. Not too bad. Some times you have to go look back to see how far you've gone. I snapped a few pics of it.
How about a wide angle shot of the tail end or a 3 quarters shot for the new tail?
Thanks,
Jay K.
I will try to get some as soon as the wing is painted.
Today I went to George Evans and brought my friend Joey with his kids. We picked up my pinion and ring gear set up. I went with an SE30 gear because of the different gearing. It appears George Evans came through for me again! We had a good chat while we were up there. Got to see many new cars in his gargage. Looks like he picked up some more Lambos since the last time I was there. I got to see Andrew's car also. (Andrew, I tried to keep Joey's kids off your car but they were too slippery, they only jumped on the front hood of your car. LOL! J/K!)
Here's some pics of me and George next to my set up. (I didn't realize this, but it looks like George and I co-ordinated our outfits that day). By the way I may look short in that picture, but George is about 7'9 tall. So I am about 6'2 so I may look short, but I'm really not.
I am getting very close to getting all this stuff done very soon thanks to George and his team!
Thanks again George for everything and the good time up there!
I have side sills copied off a late model Diablo. The part came out nice. I will be putting this on my Diablo to update the look and think it will give it an aggressive look to it. What you think?
I haven't done much to my car lately due to waiting on some parts to come in from Lamborghini. I decided to tear into the heads and replace the valve seals and also the head gaskets (recommendation of G. Evans..thank you very much!). I went to harbor frieght tools and bought a cheap engine stand ($35 bucks). I got two of them and started to cut them up and weld the cut pieces so I could make my own stand. The stand is adjustable and very sturdy! Not bad for under $100.
Here's a few pics. This will make working on the engine a lot nicer and safer.
I just noticed this thread and am damn glad I did. I love this shit! I can't believe all the places a lambo engine can leak! Keep up the awesome work and thanks for such a detailed description of your build!
