It ships to the US sans engine. You pick your powerplant and install it (or have it installed).
Then travel faster than a fart in an elevator.
Not that crapy feiro wana be with a auto and 2.8L V6
I'm talking Replica frame w/ C5 suspension and a 650hp 6.0L stroker BMW V-12 and brembo brakes. Real leather interior with lots of CF bits...and HID's. Here is a link to the only place I've found that seem to make a good replica.
I've always loved building my cars. That's half the fun for me. Some of you may remember my Talon (450hp), Zuk(8" Lift and 4.3L V6) and Ranger (superhcarged 351W).
I've always wanted a Diablo (6.0). Seems like a good match. I'm not rich so I can't afford a REAL diablo. Besides, one of the 1st things I would do if I had a real one...rip off the exhust, p&p the heads, intake and maybe a turbo system....and HRE rims. I really like the blue with white interior.
First I want to say I am a kit car guy too - but the difference in what I have in my Cobra versus what I would have to pay for a real one is in the MILLION dollar plus range, and given I don't buy/build nothing for the trailer, I ain't driving no stinking million dollar car for some dumb ass no insurance carrying asshole to run out in front of me and I plaster it! If you can really get a real thing for another 50 or 60% - you would be money ahead.
It would not have a plastic engine cover, I will be using a BMW or a 6.5L-TT AMG motor. Both are V12's. It also would not use a pontiac frame. It would be a tube frame w/ diablo suspension (but C5 hubs)
I'm starting to lean more to the GTR anyway. It costs less.
As far as the donation....I guess the $1 I sent still doesn't count.
Forget the kit... You can get a used Diablo for what, less than 100G's? You'll have nearly that much (if not more) in a properly designed kit. And the original will hold its value. If Lambo built the Diablo as a 'one-off', it would probably cost +1 million dollars. If memory serves, it has a carbon fiber tub and lots of other technologies a 100G kit will not be able to match. Not even close, at least for a reasonable price. The paint job alone would probably cost +10G's to duplicate. By selling (thousands?) of Diablo's, that brings the price down. This is not the case for a kit car, and you are paying full price for all the materials + labor. Of course it you do all the work yourself, you can save some $$$. But your final product will probably not come close to matching what a team of experienced engineers can do. Especially with a somewhat advanced design like a Diablo. I Shelby Cobra, yeah. I Diablo, no.
