Enzo Ferrari Donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Car To Be Auctioned Live at Runway For Life(R) in Beverly Hills to Help Children With Cancer and Other Catastrophic Diseases

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- A private owner of one of the most famous performance cars in history, an Enzo Ferrari, has donated the rare, $1 million automobile to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The motor car will be offered for sale during the live auction at the fourth annual Runway For Life(R), the prestigious, high-wattage, celebrity fashion event on September 15 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. The donor of this generous gift wishes to remain anonymous, and the auctioneer will be Andrea Fiuczynski, president of Christie's Los Angeles.

This marks the second time that an Enzo has come up at public auction to benefit a charity. Launched in 2003 by Ferrari, only 399 of these exotic Enzos were ever manufactured and sold. One additional car was built and presented to Pope John Paul II by Ferrari, which was later auctioned for tsunami relief.

The Enzo Ferrari up for bid at Runway For Life(R) is model year 2003, U.S. specification, with 1,300 miles and features a red exterior with black interior. The car is being offered by its original owner and has been garaged and maintained at a Ferrari workshop. All books, tools and custom luggage are included with the car. Bidding on the car will begin at $875,000.

Car aficionados will note the Enzo's racecar styling, 650hp 12-cylinder engine, carbon ceramic brakes and the ability to go from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph. The legendary Ferrari V12 at the heart of this super car ensures that it is among the fastest street-legal cars in the world. The scissor doors, carbon fiber body, steering wheel mounted controls, and sequential paddle-shift transmission reflect the most advanced concepts in Formula 1 racing technology.

The fourth annual Runway For Life(R) is sponsored by Disney's "The Little Mermaid Platinum" Edition 2 Disc DVD and the Conair Corporation to ensure that 100 percent of the net proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and is expected to raise more than $2 million for the world renowned children's research hospital.

The spectacular evening will also feature top models and celebrities including: Cindy Crawford, Phil Donahue, Daisy Fuentes, Deidre Hall, Patricia Heaton, Jane Kaczmarek, Anna Kournikova, Jenny McCarthy, Nancy O'Dell, Jaime Pressly, Jeff Probst, Lisa Rinna, Cybill Shepherd, Alison Sweeney, Marlo Thomas, Amber Valletta, Amy Yasbeck and more. The celebrity-turned-models will walk a virtual underwater catwalk in an under-the-sea adventure inspired by the film "The Little Mermaid." The extraordinary action-filled evening will celebrate the underwater world of "Ariel and friends" and will feature stunts, special effects and dance sequences themed to the film.

Interested bidders are asked to email rani@pop.net for further information about the auction.

There can't be that many enzo's in Los Angeles, so I am pretty sure he won't be anonymous for too long.
