anyone drive one or know anything about them. i have a deal to buy several from lotus for rental repurchase. i keep them 10 months and give them back when done, pretty cheap 300 per month plus juice....
thoughts?
I have one and it is a blast. Granted, it is not my old Viper, but it is a kick to drive on the track. If you are buying used, check the front spoiler for cracks and have the ECU dumped for over revs.
Lotus, in their bright wisdom, will void the drivetrain warrenty if it has more then 5 above 4k RPM (i believe) clutch dumps and spining tires. Some how the ECU reads and records this. Also, the rev limiter is not set below the over rev point and you can be hit for that as well.
went for a test drive today and ordered a few for rental and one for my garage. it really was a cool little car once you get over the fact that you need to be a trained circus clown to wiggle your way in without breaking anything.

Very nice. I also think that is the most accurate description of getting into the car haha.

I just looked at a used one 2 weeks ago. Not bad looking, but it is just a glorified go-cart. A little too small for my tastes, but I do like it.

Oh, and I almost forgot to ask, about what would one of those cost to rent per day?
Yea, he's right, because I know i'm not the only one that would be beating the fuck out of an elise if I rented one.
That is the only way to have fun in this car. Very uncomfortable, and normal driving is extremely boring with lack of torque below 6000 RPM. Not to mention the only people I envision renting this car are the hard-core (A.K.A. - Beat the 'F' out of the rental types). So how much to rent for a day?
i will be renting them for 99-149 per day. we will NOT offer insurance on these. Your insurance must transfer and cover my car.
someone just asked if they could jump in on this deal and I would be more than happy to offer it out to friends. if interested, send me a pm with your number and we can talk
You get use to getting in and out of them. I drove mine 1500 miles in one weekend (100 miles on the track) and it did pretty well. It was hot outside and the A/C sucks, but it still a lot of fun. Mine is not a Daily Driver and is only driven for fun.
no power below 6000....damn whats the redline on these cars?
It cranks out a massive 190 horsepower at 7,800 rpm, producing a lug-nut turning 138 lb-ft of torque at 6,800 rpm. Redline is 8,000 RPM's. Car has noooooo power until the VEEEEETECH kicks in at 6,200 RPM's. It's a fun car if you beat the p*ss out of it, shifting at redline. Otherwise, you drop below the power band (6,200 - 8,000 RPM) and it feels little different than a Honda Civic. Honestly, it is much close to a track car than a street car.
I had the privilege to drive an Exige for day about a month ago. That car, simply put, was bad ass. I had A LOT of fun in that car. It got the same or more stares than a Viper. I'd definitely buy one.
I think I have had more people look at the Elise over my Viper because not many people know what the hell it.
Redline is 8450 RPM and with the exception of shifting 1-2, you can stay in the VTEC the whole time. It is a blast on the track. That is what I bought mine for.

Probably a dumb question, but have you seen an Exige in person?
