woodzy i think you need a hug or a rolemodel or something
You are looking WAY too deep into this, they gave it praise and poked fun at it. Have you heard them when they drive Lamborghinis? They always rip them apart..........heck the Lamborghini tribute show where they tested the Gallardo they actually just ripped on Lambos. Don't get your panties in a bunch
They liked it..... just didn't want to sound like it was the best car they have driven... If they complain about the ride of the new Z then they would hate to drive a early C4 vette ('84-'88) Z51. i can't say about the viper as i have never actually riden in 1.. But what do they expect from a sports car of this calibre.. a ride like a cadillac while still having the same lap times? it stupid, funny, but never the less, stupid..... The Z should have been able to beat the 360 CS and the 911 GT3. Kinda makes me think the stig wasn't going flat out thru the whole course..
Tiff on 5th Gear tonight drifted the Z06 around the Paul Rickard circuit in France, all great comments its changed his attitude to US cars !!!
Quotes from the test in France:
"It doesn't take long for you to begin to enjoy this car"
great: "sounds"; "feel"; "excellent HUD"; "g meter" although the interior "way behind European standards"
"ride quality is very good until you hit a pothole but very survivable"
"you could enter one of those drifting competitions in this and win hands down"
"it defies all the things that have been bad about American cars"
great: "handling"; "brakes not giving up"; "sounds: Aston Martin and Jaguar eat your hearts out",
and the bits you'll love:
"the Americans are showing US how to do it!"
"I've laughed and joked about american cars for so long... and here I am balancing at 100mph, flipping into the power slide of all heavenly power slides and it's all under my control!"
"GM say it laps the 'Ring faster than a Pagani Zonda F, and for a fifth of the price."
Conclusion:
"The best value supercar on sale today!"

Tiff on 5th Gear hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. Top Gear's comments didn't really bother me...they have to say a few negative things about the car. The Fast Food Icon bullshit was totally staged and it's not default, funny though! Anyway, the quotes:
"It doesn't take long for you to begin to enjoy this car"
"ride quality is very good until you hit a pothole but very survivable"
"The best value supercar on sale today!"
Are all very true...just one helluva car to drive!
No doubt the Z06 is a bargain, as Vettes have always been. Mass produced, with shitty interiors, they're like nickel rockets - lots of bang for the buck. From what I've gleaned, all those great times (like the Nurburgring run) were by professional drivers running at ten-tenths. Still impressive, but you have to weight the hype of this car against the fact that rather ordinary drivers won't even come close to those times. From what I've heard, the handling does not inspire a lot of confidence, and my guess is Stig was getting about all he could out of it.
Still a nice ride, no doubt, but no need to go overboard, imo. I'd love to have one for a DD.
