How is it as a daily driver? I heard the new Z06's have a HARSH ride.
Jason, I've only had the car for one week and I've put about 500 miles on the car so far. From going from the E55 to the Z, there is a difference in ride comfort. But, because I had my E55 lowered, it's not as big as it would be if the Benz was at stock ride height.
That said, the only thing I miss about the E55 is the rear seat (which I didn't use very much) and some of the smooth ride. On the highway, there isn't much of a difference (for me) between my lowered E55 and Z in terms of comfort. I do notice a difference when the local roads get a bit rough but nothing too crazy.
I am a loyal "Benz Guy" until the day I die but it was time for a real sports car for a DD for a while. The Z is the perfect DD for me but I can understand for those who drive a Benz -- I did give up some comfort. I have driven a Mercedes as a DD since 2000 (5 different cars) and I imagine that I'll be back one day.
Getting into the Z has made me forget all about my E55 -- it's that great! Too bad you aren't near STL, I'd let you take it for a spin and see for yourself.
I was at my local dealer today and he has a C6 ZO6 in black there. He has a bump sticker of $10,000. I asked a saleman how they can justify that & the owner walked over said hi. Then he went on to explain that he had no choice but to have a bump sticker. If he did not do this he would be taking money from his employees who benefit when they sell the car. I laughed and he said oh well. It is gouging no matter how you say it. He said they did it with the Ford GT. To me that really didn't justify it. That ended the conversation. Oh well......
So is it gonna stay relatively stock? or gonna get a fair share of mods?
It will eventually get some mods. I'm probably going to do LG Headers, 160 t-stat, and a cold air induction in the next few months. I'm going to wait a bit longer because it seems that improvements are coming rapidly each month. I know many guys are doing the mods above with a tune and getting 500rwhp which is my 1st goal. Others are adding a cam and making some great numbers but I'm enjoying the car as-is right now.
I don't want to make this car any less "streetable" so I'm not 100% sure what will happen with the car in terms of mods -- we'll just have to see.

The bigger cam from LG would definitely make some great numbers! Also makes it sounds mean as hell!
Great DD and good looking combo. Silver on the seats too? IMO, the headers would be great and well worth it but the cam may be pushing it for a DD. Not sure if you'd want to sacrifice down low for what you get up top.
I would love to own a new Z06 for a daily driver. Is it all that they are cracked up to be?
Brian
Yes, all that and more, IMO. I'm telling you, before I test drove the Z I thought it would be good but nothing special. After the 10 minute drive, I was sold. The car is just awesome...no doubt about it.

Enjoy it.
Chad, thanks for the comments on the Z! Coming from you, it means a lot since I know your taste in cars. The interior/seats are ebony. I was thinking the same thing on the cam, dunno if it's really a "DD mod" for me.
Have you pulled the fuse to keep the exhaust valves open yet?
great lookin car, especially in Machine Silver.
Yes, the LG Exhaust Bypass is the only mod done to the car. The sound is night & day from stock and is perfect for me. Not annoyingly loud but not quiet by any means.
