PFR you note that the engineering is crap on the veyron because it has computer aided stability control? Wouldn't that be a pretty accomplished feat for computer ENGINEERING? You talked about Boeing so let's bring some aircraft into this picture. The B1 bomber is so unstable it can not fly without computer flight control (what a piece of crap huh?). The sr-71 leaks fuel on the ground what an engineering screw up that aircraft is if it didn't leak fuel it would probably go faster than mach 5 (another engineering screw up) Gee PFR I see your point now!

Almost every fighter jet that is designed for a low radar observable envelope has negative stability, meaning that when the controls are released, it will start to go all over the place. A fly by wire system constantly governs the stability of the plane. As a pilot eases the stick in the direction he or she wishes to go, a bank of three computers basically takes a vote on which actions will create an unstable movement in that direction. They do this thousands of times per second and therefore create smooth, stable, and controllable flight. They do this so that a plane that shouldn't fly can while using radar unfriendly shapes, or shapes more cohesive to faster flight ect... However, the Bugatti's problems stem from an inherently unstable design made simply to look fast and muscular. The problem is, not only is the fast shape not fast, it is also ugly. It was unnecessary to make it that shape other than for aesthetics. Making an object a certain shape to prevent it from being shot down is a long shot from making it a certain shape to be pretty (Or in this case, ugly). Plenty of other vehicles have pleasing shapes that also are stable and either stay stable or become more so the faster you go. Whereas the Bugatti loses stability quite dramatically after 185. We have lost pilots when fly by wire systems went buggy or crashed. I don't want to be doing 249 when the Bugatti's computer takes a shit. Nor do I wish for a computer code to dictate my cars performance. The computer engineers were good, however, engineering refers to a whole process. Good engineering stems from inherently good planning, specification development and conceptual design/ research. When I designed the intake for the Pitt FSAE car, I spent 40-50 hours on conceptual design and research. I only spent 30 hours in the actual design and CAD work. I knew exactly what to design and how it should work. There was no filling in the gaps later.
On a side note, The SR-71 leaks because the skin heats up so much at mach 3 that the panels would expand, buckle, and destroy the plane in flight. Therefore the panels are made purposely small to allow for expansion. This, however, does make them a bit incontinent while on the ground.
All of the information I have read was for earlier systems of fly by wire. If anyone knows or more current systems, please feel free to add to what is here. I am sure they are more advanced than what I read about.

I'm a firm believer that every car needs a HP gauge in the dash

Krazy, you got one in route yet?
has anyone seen that movie with charlie sheen called the wraith, Kinda looks like that in a round about sorta way, If I remember right the emblem was a chrysler on the car.
I take by my last statement these two cars dont even come close looking alike. I would take the dodge twin turbo interceptor over the veyron anyday. and the interceptor in way outdated just goes to show u back in 86 dodge was way ahead of the game ASUSUAL.
