I no that gt4 is going to be good but it will have to prove it's self worthy.Did you ever here the sounds of each car, they all sound like the real car and my favorite is how the ferari's sound.Oh man, that awesome winding of the engine sound.and the damage in PG2 is pretty good too.GT1,2,3 still never got damage which is a shame. But overall im looking forward to seeing GT4.
An under-rated PC racing game is Swedish Touring Car Championship 2. As well as racing in Swedish Touring Cars (which includes the Dodge Stratus!), it has the Chevrolet Camaro Cup which pits identical Camaros together on the track.
That game, Mercedes-Benz Truck Racing and Rally Trophy are three games I'd recommend for racing fanatics for the PC.
My little brother loves Mercedes-Benz Truck Racing, but it's never worked right on my machines, and he has the German version which I'm too lazy to translate (he guessed his way through it years ago).
RalliSport Challenge for the XBOX is a lot of fun. It unfortunately is a little too easy to beat -- they should have had a higher difficulty level available -- but it includes a tremendous number of tracks, a lot of cars including some really cool historical Group B cars and hill-climb monsters, and the graphics are quite nice. I think it was very underrated.
The Dakar racing game is also fun if you crank up the difficulty level. Nothing like driving those big-assed trucks wide-open through the desert. I only wish the stages were longer, and that there were more of them.
I forget the name now, but awhile back I read about a sportscar racing game that involved ALMS/Le Mans style racing with modern cars. Does anyone remember the name, or what happened to it? I can't believe there isn't anything out there like that yet.
