i for one didnt think i would like the new Vette, but i do. ill get a zr1 version when it comes out. you know what the new Vette will have over every single Viper??
the abililty to tune and modify it easily.
no stupid nazi ecm's that the aftermarket cant crack.
Dodge.err, SRT has kept me from ever buying a new viper becuase of this. my 08 is a PIA with its stupid ass Venom controller.
Halltech is estimating hp as much as 490 for the base LT1. I'm hoping it's 500 hp. It would make sense since the C5 Z was at 405 hp and the LS2 C6 came in at 400.
I think it's funny how this board loves the new C7 and hates the Gen 5 Viper. Corvettealley.com has a nice ring to it...

That's what I don't get, they (SRT) say their all for the after market and owners ability to mod and build etc... yet they lock the mother fuckin computer out?!?! Fuck kind of moronic thought is that??? And for that matter why the hell is Dodge/SRT all these years fucking the cpu for everyone across all their models, remember how long the Hemi's even took to get a half assed tune, 2-3 years.
Buy any Ford or GM, or Audi, or BMW or whatever and you can basically order or go anywhere that same day and have a tune done no prob. Theres no sense in doing normal bolt ons if you can't tune, shit even my truck, exhaust/headers/intake etc... all done before the tune, after the tune, completely night and day difference bringing it all together and nice gains even on a n/a engine.
Not everyone wants to spend 10-15k+ on a separate standalone system just to "tune"

Fixed for ya lol. If the ZR1 comes in that power range, game over for everyone. Wouldn't even be fair, shit least the Gen V is similar/within times with crappier tires and seems not sorted yet....Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, Audi etc all get a worse beat down currently by it and the Viper. Imagine another 100 horse power and other advancements like updated MRC. Don't care its a Vette, that thing will decimate everyone lol
Talked to a guy that's seen the new ZR1 Motor... Said it was over the 750HP range.
And he's def. inside GM connected.
I will believe that when I see it.
I don't see them offering a car with ~300 hp over the base C7. I am more inclined to believe the LT4 info that has circulated.

True I know Nissan is doing something with the GTR to keep up but a 750hp from the factory weighing 3200 pounds with paddle shifters for under 140k game over. The Gen V would get lapped at Laguna on its first pass.
I think it is JL. Maybe not at the local Stereo Shows!

I thought the same thing Snor, but he assured me it's on target for that kind of output.

I'm told the Target is "World Class beating performance" Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini are the ones they're after. As far as the 3200LB mark, it should come in lighter than that.
It's a matter of getting it past Gov. regulation I'm told. Which they're close to getting done.
