So, I'm fixing to upgrade the turbos, manifolds, intercooler piping, intercoolers, etc.. on my 300zx. In looking around, I see that AMS Motorsports makes alot of these products and theyre less expensive than some of the other guys'. But i'm reading mixed reviews about them and their quality. Anyone here had any experience with them? What do you all think?
Yes they are very very good. Amazing products, great service and proven.
Coming from a guy that has had 3 Evos and multiple setups, you wont be dissapointed.
My rice rocket, couple AMS parts on it as well. I got rid of it to get the Viper... Was making 750 awhp on low boost (est. 850 awhp on high) forward facing turbo setup, e85, stroker, matte white wrap blah blah (not a spoiler on trunk its a road sign lol):

^^^ HOLD THE PRESS. That company is bullshit! You two are talking about 2 completely separate companies.
The extremely reputable and world renown tuner of EVOs and GTRs, AMS Performance (AutoMotoSports in West Chicago, IL, USA) does NOT manufacture any parts for the 300zx.
AMS MOTORSPORTS, who does, is a chinese knock-off company based in Canada. They even knocked off their business name.
DO NOT BUY SHIT FROM THESE ASSHOLES! Fuckin cant stand businesses like that. Motherfuckers!!!! As a product designer and manufacturer who has had my own products ripped off on multiple occasions (by other equally worthless fucks), I can say with a passion that its a damn shame assholes like this are able to stay in business. Buy the real shit, dont be a cheap ass. Someone worked hard to make those parts exist.

WOW that is crazy, even with years in the evo world never heard of the knock off. Glad he stepped in brother... sorry about that. Does Stillen make anything these days?
Yea stillen makes quite a bit. But there are other tuners that are making stuff that I'm hearing is way better, the cost is astronomical though. Course, guess you gotta pay for quality.
Jim Wolf that is who I was trying to remember... Had an sr20 years ago and bought parts from both with no issues. Post pics of your car man, always loved the 300z.
Here she is. Im keeping the boss bone stock and barely drive it. The Z however, is my first passion and what I'm trying to turn into a 500-600hp daily driver. Ive got a ton of work into this car, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, so hopefully I'll get my numbers by Feb. Reason I say Feb is cause the manfiolds I'm going to go with that AREN'T AMS are on backorder till Feb. No point in pulling the motor and adding turbos and pulling it again to add manifolds. ANyway, on to the pics....
Nice 300! My friend built one for himself at my shop. He used hks turbos on the stock manifolds and they maxed out on my dynojet at 585rwhp. They were a little small but good quality garret units. It's too bad that SGP in Texas split up, they were well known for 300zx builds. One of the owners started importpartspro.com. I have done business with Kyle there for years and never had a problem... It's been a year maybe since our last transaction but I'm sure research would show he's still a reputable source.
You may have some luck finding parts/prices there? How much power are you looking for?
yea I've done business with Kyle, hes a great guy. He's a little overpriced, but great guy. lol. i'm going to see him tomorrow to try and get a package price from him

Nice! Both of mine were white! I had a 92 and then a 91.
This is my third 91 but 4th time I've owned a Z. The car is my friggin Eleanor. I had a black 91 N/A that I plowed into a wall in Corpus after losing the rear end in the rain... had a red 91 that I blew the motor on and sold. Then I moved to colorado, saw the red 91 that I had previously sold for sale in Miami, so I bought it back. It turned out to be a turd from the previous owner, then I bought this one. This one has been pretty good, but the minute I started upgrading, everything started breaking. lol
I just got mine back from the shop a couple weeks ago. Runs like a raped ape right now on 16psi. I'm still working it through before I turn the boost up to 18. That and I need to have it properly dyno tuned. If anyone knows of any good tuners that will work a tune on a 300zx let me know!
to be honest with ya... in my buddies 300, we just ran a Jim Wolf mail order tune. Since the car has a mass airflow sensor, its able to do really accurate mail order tunes if you just let him know all the fuel system mods. We also had an adjustable regulator so we could slightly tweak the overall AF with the tune. Worked well... although im sure there are better options by now?
I have a 95 300zx TT I bought new in November 1995. Have the Jim Wolfe stage 3 as well. Thought I was doing something back in the day when I turned a 12.97 at 110 mph. Still a fun car to drive and own. Now has 62k on the odometer and still wearing the same brake pads from the factory if you can believe that!
My buddy has a '90 there in Houston and has had quite a bit of work done to it recently. Dane Miller is the name of the guy that is doing some more work to it in the next couple days.
