I'll just give a for instance here. Suppose I was to take a customer's GT into the shop and just slap some turbos on it. Now suppose that unbeknownst to me we accidentally put the oxygen sensor bungs in the wrong place and as a result the car suffered a catastrophic engine failure. Now suppose I only charged the bare minimum to do this job in the first place and as a result of that I could not afford to or did not feel that I was liable for this engine failure and as a result of that the customer had to sell his GT with a blown up engine at a whopping loss. If that situation were to happen, how much money did the customer save on his turbo job?

Darn it, I hate these trick questions.
let me take a stab at it...
"you get what you pay for"
or
"if it sounds too good to be true.."
or
"there is no such thing as a good deal"
or
"sucker"
or
"bend over Charlie, I gots some turbos for ya"
or
"today we do windows, vinyl siding, and doors, tomorrow, we be turbo tuners"

isnt that what insurance is for? Of course that cost $ also. How about this, I tow someones car for $2.00 per mile. I get passed by a truck and stones bounce up and chip the paint. I have to pay for the repairs at over $1000. Does that mean I should be charging $50 per mile?
You prob. tow hundreds of cars a month , your volume it what allows you to price your service reasonably ( in the publics eye ) . Plus, its not a specialty service, and youve got tons of competition with people that can do the same thing.
If you only towed 2 cars a month, and they were Enzo's , and you had to use specialty equiptment ... and you were WELL KNOWN for being able to handle such a job better than anyone else , would you still charge $2.00 per mile ?

What insurance do you know of that covers engine failure? If you can get 50 per mile I say go for it.

My garage liability covers damages to customers cars. I am pretty sure it covers engine, body ect. I think the real issue is you are the best at what you do and if people want your work they should pay a premium. Your still a bargan compared to Hennessy. Not like towing cars that any swinging dick can do.

Why is this so hard for people to understand ?
you missed my point, see my post above. I am not disputing what he charges, only the explaination. It does not matter if he makes 1 or 1000, it does not matter if it takes specailzed equipment. The issue is that he can charge this as this is what people will pay.
Price for the Quality , Design , Craftsmanship and Performance
Jason has been able to achieve with his TT GT setup is a NON-issue
with anyone who is in the know of wanting to build a world - class supercar..
Saleen is the company that builds and paints the Ford GT and Ford's ONLY responsiblity is to put the motor and tranny into the car.
Jason Heffner is authorized by Saleen to do warrenty work on my TT S7. He is the only one that I trust to work on my $600,000 car. The S7 is America's only supercar.
Think about it....if America's only supercar builder trusts and allows Jason Heffner to warrenty work on the S7.........
WHO WOULD YOU TRUST YOUR FORD GT TO?
No other Viper tuner nor Ford FT tuner can make this claim!
