Re: Official PMUM at Speed World Challenge Laguna Seca Thread
CONGRATS TO PAUL!! AND TO MIKE!!
I know Paul is amazing as I've seen it enough at the California ViperDays events. This race it was good to see Mike McCann up there too. Holy shit, in just the second outing we almost had 2 Comp Coupes on the podium.
I think its a real asskicker that in his 2nd race, Pmum wins. Damn that is awesome. I can't wait to watch it on Speed.
Re: Official PMUM at Speed World Challenge Laguna Seca Thread
I wouldn't go too far in congratulating PVO. Somebody needs to convert the video of them hauling ass from the McCann's trailer over to PMUM on the podium.
Congratulations go to Paul for doing what we all know he could do when the myopic pro types were calling him "lucky" last week. Congratulations to Erik Messley for setting up the car after it was utterly FUBAR for the last race under PVO guidance.
WAR THE FIRST VIPER PODIUM IN YEARS GOING TO A GUY BANNED BY THE MORGUE!!!
Re: Official PMUM at Speed World Challenge Laguna Seca Thread
Ah, I wandered how Paul went from the 39s early in the week down to the 34s by the weekend. Erik Messley is the answer!
I can't wait to start hearing the bimmer and porsche folks start complaining about how the Viper isn't fair blah blah blah. Hopefully, Paul still has some left on the table cause he'll probably be driving around with an extra 100 lbs of lead pretty soon.
Jeez, imagine if he didn't have those little 275s in front!
Re: Official PMUM at Speed World Challenge Laguna Seca Thread
I don't think Messley is worth 5 seconds, but he's a frigging jewel. Paul was only running :38's during the open day and was running 34's during practice. Eventually he went mid :33's in qualifying.
Ask Erik how fucked up the car was before he worked his magic. Corner weights were off something like 200lbs, nobody knew the spring rates, bar sizes, etc.
Re: Official PMUM at Speed World Challenge Laguna Seca Thread
Yeah, Erik isn't worth 5 secs, but if the susp goes from being f'd up to being spot-on, it gives Pmum the feel and confidence he needs to start laying the wood to those "pros".
I'm surprised Paul didn't start with Erik, I know he did the setup on his old ViperDays car. Was he just givin PVO the benefit of the doubt?
Re: Official PMUM at Speed World Challenge Laguna Seca Thread
It was more of a logistical benefit for RA. I hope Erik is able to help him at Road Atlanta. Which reminds me, Chuck, I guess I'll be seeing you at Road Atlanta now!
