Does anyone want to see this video. My brother and I went a couple of years back and both got one. His weighed about 150 lbs and mine was close to 300 lbs. No guns, just dogs and a sharp, long knife.
No dogs were harmed in the making of this film but 2 hogs bit the dust!
Here is the link.
I had to post it on youtube.
I edited out the 10 minute foot chase before each catch.
So let me get this straight.....instead of harvesting the animal humanely, you used a knife? I suppose it stood still long enough for you to plunge it directly into the hogs heart?
Hunting with dogs is pretty fucked IMO. Our ranch is full of hogs, and they aren't worth risking your dogs over. I have seen countless dog guttings, from Walker hounds to Pits, a small hog can kill a dog instantly. I shoot every single hog I see, but see nothing macho in using a knife to kill one. That is just stupidity. Sorry for the soap box.
OK DOHUNTER, the dogs wear cut collars and kelvar vests! You grab the animal by the hind leg (and hold on) and stab it in the chest. It expires within 15 to 20 seconds. I shot about 15 deer last year, 12 or 13 free range axis deer and 1 whitetail. All with a AR10 (308 cal) or with my bow. Some lasted 30 seconds to a minute after a double lung shot and the bow kills (double lungs) may have taken a half hour. These two hogs went fast! And yes, you hold on to them (the pigs) till they die.

I was making a comment.
You do not have to justify your endeavours to me.
I am not an almighty being, no matter what women might say.
Being another hunter, I felt I needed to justify it to you! I'll head up to the office and get the vid and post it later this afternoon. I'll PM you when it's done.

Don't worry about it, if I don't want to see it I won't click on it.
Hunting hogs with dogs is common practice here in Texas. It's just another form of hunting, albeit one I do not allow on the 4B. In my opinion, it's too hard on the dogs and too hard on the hogs.
Joelcoel, you can bullshit some people who have no experience with hog hunting but I ain't one of those people. It damned sure is hard on the hogs and sticking the hog isn't what I'm talking about. The bay dogs certainly do no damage but if you stuck a hog, you were using catch dogs and catch dogs tend to shred the hog pretty well don't they? And I seriously doubt that comes out in the video because the pig sticker doesn't usually come out until the hog has been worn down by the dogs. And speaking of dogs, kevlar cut vest or not, MANY dogs have died form fighting hogs; especially catch dogs. To deny that would be a bald face lie.
Like I said, it's a form of hunting that I won't criticize but that doesn't mean we can't be honest about it being hard on the animals. Congrats on sticking a 300 lb. boar, that takes big balls no matter if the animal was worn down or not.
Sure it wasn't a chipmunk? Thanks to this site I now know what a chipmunk looks like.
The wealth of information here is mind blowing Originally I thought it was a chipmunk for years but after seeing that post I now know it was a squirrel
lets see the vid Hogs and dawgs is the way to hunt but you got to have the right dogs all my dogs have been bred as catch dogs they are from the VON HOGSLAYER bloodline and you must use vests and collars i'll try and get some pics up but check out Swamp Dog Pits
