The thing is......everyones answer to this thread should be a resounding yes. Would you die for your couuntry? YES I WOULD. The chances that most, if any, of us will actually be called to duty is slim and none, but that shouldn't change the answer.
We all enjoy the freedoms of living in a democratic society (well, you Americans moreso than me), but those freedoms didn't come without a price. Our ancestors fought and died so that hopefully we wouldn't have to. We owe it to future generations to do the same thing if need be.
It may sound easy to say because I'm sure that by this point in my life I would be of little use on a battlefield, bu the truth is that YES, if my country called me tomorrow and said it needed me, I'd be the first one in line.

Your point being that you worked hard for what you have accomplished. By right, that is your property because you earned it. Why should you have to give away or sacrifice what you consider valuable? You shouldn't. When people begin to truly make sacrifices, they are either:
1. Not really making a sacrifice, they are mislabeling it and doing it for their own benefit. This includes making sacrifices for your children. Those of you who would die for your kids, you don't do so for their sake. You do so because you know you do not want to live without them, especially when you could have altered the outcome. Are you really doing it for them? No - you are doing it for your belief that you are doing it for them. In reality, you did it for yourself. Most of you won't be able to grasp that concept... so we'll put it in another easier to understand term. Something that doesn't have to do with instincts and survival of the species, etc... You want to buy a new exhaust for your car. Your girlfriend really wants to buy a new computer. You only have enough money for one or the other. You buy your girl the computer. Did you make a sacrifice? No. What you did gained you something. It made her happier with you, it made you feel better that you were able to provide for her. A true sacrifice would have occurred if you have no positive gain period. Not emotionally, financially, physically, etc... A true sacrifice means you just lost out and you gained absolutely no benefit. Thats the first. The second is:
2. They do not see themselves in very high regard, they lack self worth. The gain their own self worth from others. Whatever values they may have, they seek others for recognition. Without others recognition, they have no value.
Getting back to you driving around your $60K car. You say why should you provide for those poor, lazy people when you deserve what you have - it is your property. Well, your life is your ultimate property. No one should be able to tell you what you are to do with it. If you within yourself feel a sense of duty and dying for your country is what you need in order to fulfill it, then that is your right because it is your life.

I am a really nice guy. What no one seems to understand, is that I am nice because I don't take advantage of people and EXPECT anything from them. Unless I have hired them to do something for me, then whomever I associate with will have a mutally beneficial relationship with me. I am not sure about the leather tidbit. I might have written something about it. Basically, I had a 4 month old couch I just paid $1750 for. I bought an entire front room set that cost me a little over $5000 and it was based on that color. A month after the couch was delivered, parts of it began fading really bad. I called Levitz, and they told me they would send me a Merchandise Certificate to buy a new couch and leave me the old couch since the manufacturer of said couch had gone out of business. This put me in a bind, I told them I preferred that they pick EVERYTHING up and give me a replacement value voucher so I could make everything match. They told me nope and sent out the one cert so I could have a mismatched couch. Kind of bummed me out. Then I found leather dye stain on the internet for $18.00. I put it on the couch, and it matches completely. Made me very happy, couch looks brand new. And then I went and spent that $1750 merchandise certificate there and decided I would not shop there anymore.
