"Your mother should have swallowed" That was awesome...
I like to read history books, etc... - I cannot help but wonder what it was like during the civil war, vietnam, korea, etc... - and what some of those guys would be saying in regards to Mike's post...
It is a shame - very much and entitlement mentality now days...
But you guys are the bastards! Driving Vipers when others have to drive Hondas. What makes you any better or deserving? Why should you be allowed to drive a Viper when they can barely afford a used Toyota?
You say one thing, but I don't see any of you giving YOUR SHIT away. Sure you might donate to charity here and there, but you don't give EVERYTHING of yourself. You aren't giving your life to serving others right now, you are living your life for.... YOU. Why? Because it is YOUR LIFE, you earned what you have in it, and no one else can DEMAND it from you.
I'd die for my dog, before I would die for most of you.
You act like I am not appreciative of our armed forces. OF COURSE I AM. But I am also appreciative of grocery store owner, the mechanic, and anyone else that has done something that benefits me. Just because I appreciate what any of them do, does that mean I have to become one of them?

Mike
I just had to quote this before you accidentally deleted it because I can't believe what I just read.
There is no draft right now so I am not urging my nephew to join. I am past the age mark (33) so I couldn't re-enlist even if I wanted to. Interesting I was gung ho but now that I am older and my nephew looks up to me and was talking about joining the Marine Corps. I found myself trying to talk him out of it and if he joined, join the Air Force or Navy???? I guess it is a double edged sword. Nothing would make me more proud if he went in the Marine Corps but then again I also want him to have better odds of surviving in a war. This is the closest I have ever come to being the "role model" or father figure and I now have some idea why my mother cried when I said I joined the Marine Corps.
If there was a draft he had better step up to the plate though and not bitch out like a selfish pig like Mike W. We have our duty and Mike W has no idea what that means. Hell I would go as far as saying even if it came down to his family he might turn yellow. You think it stops at some point? What Mike has is a trait and knows no boundries. If ever tested Mike's loyalty to his own family members would crumble. He simply has no backbone and cannot see beyond his own selfishness and would sacrifice even his loved ones if need be. What a POS!
Joker, I think you are pretty much bang on with what I was wrestling with. 20 years ago I would have volunteered if there was a war on. But now I would not volunteer. If drafted I would go without a doubt. I would not encourage my two boys to volunteer but they are both going to register for the draft when they turn 18.
I don't know if I have gotten cynical or if it has something to do with getting older and being a parent.
Wow! Tough question for a guy who's eligible draft days were between wars. I DID get a draft card though...and recall my number was 4! Vietnam and the draft ended before I was of age.
When I was single I'm sure I'd have gone. I remember having a button (that was cool then) that read bomb Hanoi! Most of the HS football team was ready to go.
Now, older married with a 4 y/o little lady....to be honest....I'm not so sure. Don't think I could really make that decision until I was faced with such a reality (not to mention that I probably couldn't help worth shit wherever I was sent to serve). I know I'd want to go....but the thought of leaving my little girl behind would be like having to choose between parents. I watch these youngsters leaving their families behind to go overseas and it just kills me. Good, for a rare change, to be "too" old.
I'd die for my dog, before I would die for most of you.
This from a guy that would bowl over an elderly lady to be the first one out of a burning building. Thank God our countries weren't built by ascendants of your train of thought.
Enjoy your freedom asshat, I'm sure the men and women that died to provide it for you would want it that way.
Mike, I've seen people like you my whole life. You're a bottom feeder, and a sponge to society.
That makes a bunch of sense you fucken Canadian. I won't put myself in harms way for your beliefs or what is dear to you. I'll do it for my own.
And all of you would too. All of you that are in the armed forces right now. You are government property. A few days before you are about to get deployed, your child is still in your home that caught fire. A raging fire and you hear him/her screaming "Daddy!!!" You would take that government property ass of yours, you would run back in the house full aware that you might die, in order to save your child. Well, WTF did you do that for? You are about to be deployed to die for your country right? How can you die for your country when you already died for your kid? How irrefuckensponsible of you to die for what you believe in more.
Nope, I would not die for my country. I would die for what I hold dear to me, my beliefs that I refuse to change, and those people that I feel I need in my life, that I would not want to live in their absence... That means: I would be willing to risk dying, if forced to live a life I did not want to live.
If you want to die for the country, I'll keep paying taxes to send you on your way. You are not obligated to die for your country, you shouldn't feel bad saying that you would not.
I live for myself and yes I love having freedom. I won't die for you over my loved ones, and I wouldn't expect you to do the same. You want to join the military... Go right ahead, and remember, that was YOUR CHOICE. It doesn't matter if you did it because you did not know what else to do, your daddy forced you too, or you felt like a patriot. You did it, not me. I will do what the law says I have too, and I will pay taxes so you can risk your life for your decision; which does in fact benefit me. If I wanted to join the armed forces, I would have.
"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country!" Uh... NO... It is a mutally beneficial relationship my country and I have. I give to them, just as it has given to me. If you want to die fighting for what you hold dear, then great... but I would not die for my country and some of the welfare fucks it houses. Nope... not me. I won't die because everyone else chants I should for the betterment of everyone else but me. I don't believe the group comes before me. If someone said, "I will kill either you, or 100 strangers..." I would say, "Fuck it, kill them. I have shit to do."
Wow! 350 words. That's all it took for you to sum up your wothlessness to the entire country! Very Impressive Mike.
First off Mike one of my cars is a Honda(no comment from Smokin!). Not sure what the hell property has to do with loyalty to your country? You keep saying dying for a person and I am not sure if you "get it" or not. Yes we can break it down to eacha nd every one of us but the gist of it is belief in a common idea. My loyalty isn't to each and every one of you or your @ucking dog. It is to that piece of paper called the Consitution which gives our rights and freedoms.
There are two different situations a volunteer Armed Force and the draft. Right now I have no problem with somebody not choosing to join because there is no draft. More power to them and even you Mike. However if there is a draft I would expect those able to sign up. IT IS THEIR DUTY!
Apparently you have no sense of duty to your country or the Constitution. You are here to cash in and then bail when the $hit hits the fan. You sure would be shot in the back as you ran away on the battlefield and it would give me great pleasure to be the one to do it. We are here becasue of selfelss acts of others when called upon to DO THEIR DUTY, they stepped up. There were people like yourself in the past and I suspect there will be more in the future.
Are you from France Mike?
The sooner you die for your dog,t he better for the rest of us.
Mike, I've seen people like you my whole life. You're a bottom feeder, and a sponge to society.

Have a super fantastic day.
Mike
That's a real nice spin Costanza. If you are determined to spout your idiotspeak around here, at least have the decency to stay on topic.
Why not just say that you wouldn't die for your country because the leather on your couch is faded and it was made in America? (those of you banned from .org won't get that one, but I assure you it's right on target)
Go back to the morgue George, I see someone is selling Jon Voigts LeBaron.
I wouldn't die because other people tell me it is my duty to die for them. I would die trying to maintain my freedom.
About the couch, that dye works really well.
Mike
We have a #ucking comedian here! Lets give him a hand.
I noticed you said "my freedom". Is this limited to your property line or property or does this extend to the borders of your country or the freedom of your country?
I wouldn't die because other people tell me it is my duty to die for them. I would die trying to maintain my freedom.

I see. Only when your precious conscience tells you it's time to do your duty, isn't that right? That's the deal with you guys who are so in love with your ideology. You don't feel a higher calling or civic duty to anyone or anything besides yourselves and your sacred personal ideals. Community be damned, country be damned, outta the way, me first to the lifeboats!
Funny that you came out of the woodwork this week. I was just proposing this hypothesis about liberals last week on this forum. My position was that they are quick to either turn against their country or sublimate any sense of loyalty to it in favor of their own political ideology. And here you are ... a PERFECT case in point to prove my theory.
Thanks for showing up and propping my analysis. Now hit the road you fucking walking talking shit specimen. Political science lab is over and you're stinking up the place.
Id serve in a heartbeat if asked or required. would i die...its part of the deal and its understood it can happen so yes i would.
Ive had the pleasure of working directly with many military and paramilitary over the years in training and self defense and while i myself am the only man in my entire family to not have served, i feel ive done my part in helping those who have served be more capable to take care of themselves if needed.
as for why my pansy ass never served; like my father and brothers said (all special forces meatheads)I dont take orders, Im simply am not military material, never was never will be. id have been courtmartialed in a day :fist:
