I am a foreign national living in the US. My wife is american, i am swedish.
I have many, many comments about illegal immigrants that screw up life for legal immigrants (such as myself) but in the big picture i think that the extra hoops that i have to go through each and every time i pass the INS checkpoints is worth it. US as a nation has to protect its people as iit see's fit, i have to decide if I as a foreign national think it's worth it. I see no problems with the rules as they are now, i even wish they tighten up the rules for the illegal immigrant and make life easier for productive legal immigrants who add to the american society as a whole and don't take work away from american citizens.
par, i agree with you 100%! the thing about illegals are they only take away jobs that the average person really wouldnt do anyways. being illegal, they work for under minimum wage b/c they have to take whatever they are offered, they cant rat on the owner, and the owner in turn doesnt want to rat on them b/c he loses his cheap labor! i just hate when neighborhoods, streets, etc. become dangerous and risky just b/c some illegals decided to take over! i hate that they come here, have kids and flood the school system with non-english speaking childen, and the school as a result has to cater to them even though their parents didnt belong here in the first place. i hate that i have to worry about driving my nice car here b/c some uninsured motorest with ZERO competence is behind a wheel and could fuck up at any moment and ruin my car, and maybe get away with it! i hate that i feel like the minority around here b/c they reproduce like fucking rabbits. i hate that i risk getting shit stolen b/c they invade my country and feel that i owe them something more! i hate illegals and i wish they would get the fuck out of here! a friend of mine came from the middle east and just became leagl...all you have to do is a simple test and you get your citizenship!
one thing i can say that is PC (gosh i hate that term) is the fact that i think it should be a requirement to learn the language of the country you intend to live in! I would learn italian if i choose to live in italy, the same way as i've learned english since i'm living in the US. I just don't get the concept of making a country adapt toy you vs. you adopting the country you live in.
my few cents again (gosh, i really come out conservative tonight!)
... You should hear my wifes thoughts on some of these concepts... And she speaks like 7 languages after working all over the world...
