A North Korean soldier holds "bullets" to blow up the Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., in this poster released by Pyongyang's Korean Central News Agency on Friday January 31, 2003. The Korean Banner reads: "Ruthless Punishment to U.S. Imperialism." New anti-U.S. posters have been put up along the streets of Pyongyang and other parts of North Korea pledging to fight American "imperialists," the North's state-run media said Friday. Posters of "high ideological and artistic value" were made by North Korean artists shortly after the communist country withdrew from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Tready on January 10, said the report by the North Korean Central News Agency. Having spent some time in South Korea - the idea of a war with the North is very scary. Seoul is a huge city of some 10 million plus and is only 30 miles or so from the DMZ.
Last time I was there they had city wide air raid drills. That really hit home and makes you understand how good we have it here in the USA.
Stuff like this is the big reason we don't need nafta, nafta was formed to help out the world economy and all that has happend is we have given away jobs an money to countries that hate us.
We support all of this shit by buying stuff they make yeah its inexpencive but the stuff doesn't last our hard earnd money goes to their govermet so in a way we are supporting it.
Isn't this a nice payback for supporting their economy.
You know that iraq is just the start of a long list of countries that Bush wants to wipe out. Iran and N. Korea are most likely next after Iraq.
In all seriousness...we could be looking at the US and our allies at war for many years to come. I think it also would be stupid not to say we will see some terrorists blowing things up on our own soil.
I was watching the local news and they were interviewing some of the reservist that just got called up and they were told that it would be 1-3 years before they would be coming back. Can you imagine telling your wife and kids that?
I spent a few months on the DMZ and in Pouhang Korea. Things are, needless to say, very tense there.. Like all the time. The students frequently protest the government and it seems that there is always some sort of shit going on.
I hope this doesn't turn into a war. if it did, it would be much more "involved" then Iraq.
[quote=par] I still think that north korea is a really big threat to western democracy. They are within shooting range of japan, china and south korea.
Frigging scary with mad men like Kim Il-Jong in power...

I couldn't care less about what happens on the Korean peninsula, as long as Americans aren't caught in the middle of it. Let the SKs the Japanese and the Chinese handle the trouble in their backyard. It's of no strategic importance to us whatsoever. It's not like Stalinist communism is going to spread rampantly throughout the rest of the world.
If we refuse to police the area, the Asian powers will just have to do it. And that's a good thing.

If it doesn;t say "Made in USA" on it, and I don't absolutely NEED it, then I don't buy it!
Well the problem is N. Korea hates who we are and what we stand for as a Christian based free nation.
They can and have sold weapons to terrorists. They now want to build nukes. They will use these weapons as terrorists tools against us. They might even use them or sell them to a terrorist that will use them on us.
These people are sick twisted cult based scum bags what would kill us all if they could.
We are not playing with guns and tanks anymore...we are playing with nukes and bio weapons that could kill millions.
Just imagine one bio weapon in a major city...you can watch on TV as 10's of thousands of people die and watch the American and World economy take a dive into a major depression if not a total collapse.
If we let countries like N. Korea and Iraq, Iran...etc etc...get stuff like nukes and bio weapons it really could mean the end of the world as we know it. We have to opportunity to take action now. Lets not spoil our chances to keep this world safe for many generations to come.
Toby is right. Today a somewhat talented high school student can use genomic material to create genetically modified versions of bacteria. Imagine what someone with a more formal training and a complete education can do if they really hate our guts.
The other scenario which i think is scary is that allied nations are facing a real, emminent and credible threat from unrational people like Kim Il-Jong. In one scenario that i read, Kim can shell seoul with conventional artillery and create a firestorm that will remove a whole citys population within a few hours. The estimates are that 30,000 within the initial 5 minutes and 200,000 after 30 minutes assuming conventional artillery only. Now that is a scary scenario.
Nuking those bastards may be the only way to win without loosing countless American lives. Very scary thought but I am sure back in the 40's most people were scared beyond belief when we dropped nukes on Japan.

Problem with nuking the asswipes is that we would piss off all the surrounding countries..some that have nuclear strike capability themselves.
Not to mention that virtually all allied nations would isolate US if nukes are used as an offensive "pre-emptive" (i really hate that term) strike method. Believe it or not, but in reality US is much better off with the world than against the world.
The military result would be one of the most effective operations ever done in world history but the political price would be impossible to pay.
Not to mention that if you think the German holocaust was bad, you should see what the world (and many americans) thinks of a nuclear holocaust.
I don't think China would appreciate the radioactive fall out from a nuclear attack...it would start a snowball effect, then we're looking at WWIII? Something has to be done, but nuking these assfucks is not the answer.
We def won't nuke first..Something very drastic I predict will happen on US soil in the near future which will spark the begining of the end....WW3...sad how life is...I really don't fear any of it but I do think for my kids..That I fear the most..For them is the future, how dim it looks now for them...
