I finally got around to watching the movie. FOCK ... I had no idea it was about my misspent youth! HS class of '76, made in Austin, filmed at all my old hangouts like the Topnotch Burger joint. It had to have been modeled after my school. Anderson was the *rich kids* HS and we were the only ones who had the $$ to have the cool cars and afford the beer and dope like those kids in the movie. Man I feel like I've been through a time machine. Beer and dope parties at the park, trash canning mailboxes. I even got busted for that stunt. Cool flick. Pablo, have you seen it? Wasn't that spooky?
I have seen it good movie. I actually watched Bowling For Columbine last night though, not a bad movie I thought, had some very interesting stuff in it. Just a little too long for me.
"The best thing about HS girls is that we get older and they stay the same age"
Yeah, McConaughey's graduated loser character. Man all the characters in that movie were totally plausible. 100% accurate ... especially the mega stoner dude. I knew that guy. God we had a good time back then. I don't think kids now can get away with a quarter of the shit we did. Thank goodness.

If youve been out in the dating pool lately youd be frightened by some of the shit you hear. Kids these days are fuckin nuts. Some of the 19-24 year old chicks tell me about the craziest shit. Ive heard stories about what they pulled in HS that was SO different than when I was growing up, and thats only trailing by 4-9 years. They might not get away with the same shit, but It hink its MORE shit, its crazier, and its more harmful.

I think the booze and dope and vandalism get clamped down on today, so they take it out by being total sluts. I am convinced they're sluttier than chicks were in our day. DOH! I used to like sluts ... a lot. Is that bad that I said that? Does that make me a bad guy?
"Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, alright. We got 411 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper Edelbrock intakes, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some fuckin' muscle."
"Yeah, I saw that on the back of a cracker jack box"
I love the end when Mitch comes home.
Mom- "who's that girl?"
Mitch- "she just... like.. some girl"
Mom- "have you been drinking?"
Mitch- "noooOOOoooo"
Mom- "are you drunk?"
Mitch- "ppppffffttttttthhhh"

Mitch was so cool. Buying beer at 15. I remember doing that.

I haven't seen it but from your description it doesn't sound like it would remind me of Anderson HS. All I remember is the hours and hours of studying diligently. Oh, I'd take the oocasional party break and go down to the DQ for a peanut buster parfait and a cup of coffee but other than that, it was pretty much hitting the books. That's what I remember.

You lying sack of shit! Gotta see it, Pablo. It'll freak you out so bad seeing our lives reproduced in exact detail. I'm not kiddin'. The dude Linklater must've been stalking us at the time. Look him up in the yearbook and see if he went to school with us ... I wouldn't be surprised at all. Movie was dead on.

Kids are nuts, but it's become so commonplace to act like a total fucker, nothing's very shocking to anyone under the age of 25, anymore.
I was standing in line at the bank on Thursday, and this little kid, maybe eleven years old or so, walks up to the window and starts bangin' his little fists on the tinted glass. Everyone's like....Okaaaayyyy...
He then proceeded to open the door, stick his tounge out, open his eyes as wide as they'd go, throw his arms in the air and yell...

This seemed extremely benign to me, however, It then crossed my mind...this is just a nutso-in-training. He's merely shedding his inhibitions and respect for common decency at this early age, to make room for the desire to be self-abusive, obnoxious, destructive and loud.
Honestly though, kids of every generation are completely insane, just in very different ways.
