After reading you comments on you methods of making a salary, to the comment of being at the Dallas airport, along with several otheres, have me deeply troubled. In your case, I would never hire you to work for me. You cannot be trusted. 'A man's word is his bond.' No sentence ever spoken has such a ring of truth. IN your world, words like honor and fainess mean nothing to you. I met hundreds like you in the automobile business, I met the same type of people during the telecom meltdown during the 1999/2000. Your actions are no different then the Tyco's, Global Crossing, Adelphia, Worldcom, etc that are being charged and brought to court.
Secondly, the race issue need not be brought up. We all of a type of race and or creed. Your comments are out of line. As the husband of an African/Native American, and being 1/2 french and 1/2 Scilian, I have seen what comments like yours do. They hurt, cause scars, and in the end, have no purpose.

Question is, should BOTH parties show remorse. Anyone who visits the Alley should know that it was started by shit talkers and a big reason on why we have fun here IS the shit talking itself. But who really is here? Lets take a look at the "makeup" of the board:
A) Shit talkers. There are several types here:
1) Seasoned Shit talkers, who will dish out out, been around the board for a while, and wil bite hard with a distinct sting and style.
2) Newbie/Troll Shit talkers, like to start shit, but may not be able to hang, but will continue to engage regardless.
3) Casual observer, poster. Sometimes they jump in with a take or two, but are generally more reserved.
B)Occasional Posters
Much quieter, keeps to him/herself. Posts more on viper discussions and has less interst in anything goes. They dont like to stir the pot and are more mild mannered. They have fun in the alley and contribute but dont add the distinct flavor as much as the shit talkers.
C) Newbies
Dont really have a clue, make incorrect assumptions on what the board is, how it was started, how it is run, what the rules, are what is acceptable, what the moderators do,...typically someone whos only been on the morgue and just arrived or just been on this baord for a couple of months with no history of the morgue.
D) Lurkers
Just watch read, and say nothing.
So what does all of this mean? First of all. Talking smack is nothing to be remorseful about. Weve all jumped on battlbot, DV22. Some here have dogpiled Lawboy, Remster, etc. However ALMOST anything is fair game. Type "A1" , the seasoned shit talker will take a deeper bite and dish out more acidic smack. Its brutal and often doesnt get a good reply. However its just smack. If the person is type C or type A2, they may not be able to "hang". They can, however respond as they wish within reason. Smack is a good thing, its not about hurt feelings, etc, its about good shit talking within reason. Kinda like a good boxing match. Fun to watch, fun to participate, just no illegal shots,...nothing below the waist. So what happened?
A thread was started about selling cars. I posted how I have purchased mine and posted about "pet peeves". Mattl took it to be personally offensive and made a post along the lines of "we wont cater to your type". Then the shit talking starts. So I layed into him....pretty hard a couple of times. Fincally since hes a mix of C and A2, he couldnt respond so instead of continuing good smack talking. He hits below the belt. He goes and brings up race in a VERY vindictive way. Thats crossing the line.
Some people have said that our "racial" comments on the board are the same as talking smack to a person's face. No way. To make a joke or a stereotype about "asian drivers" or "mexican taco bell employees" or "Black rappers" or "camel jockeys and jihad" is far different than going to an asain guy and yelling "you fuckin chink" or going to an African American and calling him a "porch monkey or a Nigger". Thats crossing the line....ie striking below the belt.

So many DO understand the difference, you don't. Just because you think it's ok in your own mind, doesn't mean other people do. You crossed the line, just as Mattl did.
But, sir, at what point can you tell me, that I was offended by a comment you or another made? (Sorry, Rem but I need you as an example)
IE: Over the last 3 monthes you have hit on Rem because of this stances. Terms like Frenchie, etc were used directed at him, but at what point can you tell me that the collateral damage didn't effect his wife, had she opened the thread? You can say what you want about thin skin, but words can have a domino effect, You don't know which one starts the entire line to fall over.
Yes, there are different levels of smack that go on here, and different levels of posters. However I can tell you comment like Camel Jockey and Jihad do hit me the wrong way. Just as comments like Chink do.
My best friend is Chinese/American. I would die for him if needed, and have worked as his bouncer/bodyguard in his bar when I was out of work. I have seen the hard word he does to make sure that when he talks, there is no accent. His dream is to be an American, and at this point, I feel he is more American than I, and I was born here.
Secondly my "little brother's wife" is Lebonese/Engilsh. Her father works in Saudi. I have have countless of hundreds of hours of conversation with him and otheres in the company discussing the middle east and the goings on that the media never covers. I use that knowledge to better myself when talking to customers from that reagion of the world.
You can call me a wimp, or what ever you want. Mettl was out of line several points. Because he breaks the rules, doesn't allow you to become Bruce the shark from Jaws and flood the monitor with chum.
No comments about my ostentatious (obviously by the picture) habits. Not the chucky cheese tickets (you have no idea how much money I spent (in addition to the loot shown in the picture) on ski ball to get those tickets. Perks of a "x" figure salary which i will not post. I think I'll buy a stuffed bunny with the tickets.
