Did you hear Villeneuve pulled out of the race? BAR released him of all contractual obligations, and Takuma will replace him this weekend. Sounds like Indy will go down as his last F1 race. Kind of sad actually. I was at Indy in 95 when he won the 500, so I've always been a fan and would have liked to see him have a better ending to his F1 career.

yes I did hear this...If you go to F1-live.com...you can read all the latest stories about it. I enjoyed watching him race in years past but in the past few....its been rough. Not sure why though...I guess he lost his edge. I bet we will see him racing IRL or something very soon. I will miss seing him race too..lots of F1 history with his him and his late father.

I doubt he will end up in IRL. It wasn't too long ago that he had some not so nice things to say about the IRL and Tony George. I'd guess he'd end up back in CART before anything else, he seems pretty loyal to that series.

I'm headed to Ft. Worth for the IRL finale Sunday. It's gonna be a GREAT race! 5 drivers with a mathematical shot at the championship at the last race!

I used to really love CART. I've been to their races all over the country, but they just got so full of themselves they thought their shit didn't stink. I'd like to see more road courses (natural terrain) but their marketing focus sucks bigtime.

Last I heard Gerald Forsythe, Paul Gentilozzi and Kevin Kalkoven, all car owners, were planning to buy CART and take the company private. I'm pretty sure CART will still exist next year, and it will definetly be run much differently than in recent years.

CART was great...until the split ...then open wheeled racing in the USA sucked. I started following F1 in the mid to late 80's and have not followed any other group since.

I do miss the days of Rick Mears, A.J. Foyt, Al Unser Sr, etc etc etc

I never miss the Indy 500 though...that in its self is something special.

I'm pumped - can't wait for the weekend!

But all the drama drained at Indy for me. JP out of it = beh. I like MS just fine but JP's my boy (blue!)

I think MS has to finish out of the points and Kimi has to win outright in order to steal MS's 6th...

I was just reading in Autoweek tonight that MS's contract is good through 2006...so in theory, he could retire with an amazing and probably cemented in stone record of 8 championships. Gotta respect the spoon...

So , the deal is that Kimi must win with MS finishing 8th ir worse to win the Champ. , this will never happen , unless Kimi can take him out and finish????? this stuff used to happen all the time in the 80's and early 90's. Remember Prost , Senna , Hill and t
