Raffle

ya know, wandering round over there at the morgue got me thinking (that can be dangerous) why dont we have a raffle for something huge? sell tickets and all, and unlike the morgue actually let the tickets represent the true value of the prize (2003 tickets at 100 bucks each for a 90K buggy...hmmm educate me on this mathematics)

anyway, maybe im mising something and this site is already doing it, if not lets work on it, itd be a great addition to an already fine site.

(BTW, the newest giveaway here is nothing less than awesome)

I think there are alot more legal ramifications to a raffle vs. the wonderfully generous giveaways we've had here at the Alley.

there is a shitload of legal shit I'm sure. Plus they use it to raise money for the club. IF we wanted to do the same thing we'd have to form a club, get a licence etc... It's a lot of work.

from what i know of doing benefits and giveaways for LLC and the like, its a simple matter of a very simple IRS form and some other minor details.

lots of legal hoops to jump through. I looked into this once. Very tough and the IRS takes a real hard look at it too.

I brought that topic up a while ago, too much legal stuff. Laws are different state to state, way too much stuff needs to be done.

As noted, lots of legal issues regarding raffles, of which I do not know - much like you MOJO, being a dentist...er...doctor, and trying to say you know something about gynecology.

As for the $, if it is for the website/organization to earn $, then they wouldn't if tix were for the value of the item. However, if you're just looking to do some gambling, e.g., "EBC greens go for $X, so 10 people pay $X/10, and randomly pick a winner", well that's easy enough to do casual, but see issue of legal issues above for something more substantive.
