240Z... a classic

Co-worker bought himself a 1971 Datsun 240Z that has been rebuilt from pretty much the ground up. It was drop dead NICE, the PO did a hellova nice job.

I forgot how fun it is to toss those little bastards around! He has some modified SU carbs, higher compression motor, all sorts of goodies. Needless to say that taking the twisties at first light was quite fun. For such a little car, it does get out of it's own way pretty well. Not a strait line by any means, but very fun. Hell, his AC even works and blows cold

No pics  as Jenn had a photoshoot thing today for her work.

I always liked those, I think a 280Z, not a bad looking little car.

I liked the 240z's too, as they evolved they got heavier and heavier. The 300z's could move but were over weight for their size. Personally I could do without some of the creature comforts to save some weight, electric windows are mostly a pain in the butt to keep working and add a lot of weight. A/C is worth it to me but if I lived farther north I could go without it too. I had a 79' 924 that I stripped from 2600 lbs to 2280, made a huge difference in the way it handled and motivated.

In highschool, all my friends had Z cars. One of the only cars I know if where you could stand in the engine bay to work on it

Trivia: The Turbo for these was developed by a Datsun Dealer. He developed the turbo as an aftermarket option from his dealership. Who can tell me the City and State?

I had a friend that loved his 240-Z so much that he got a 260-Z.
He had nothing but problems with the 260. He hated that car.

I'm too young to remember 240z's... that was before my time. I had a 91 300ZX though and it was the biggest piece of shit ever.

The Local Datsun Dealer in Greeley, Colorado, started putting turbos on his Z's. The main players of Datsun flew over from Japan to see, what this guy was doing to their cars. They watched in awe, as he drove and took some of them for a ride. They negotiated with him an got the Patent. His has invented several things but this was the most successful.

Trivia:

The First US Nationals was held in Great Bend, Kansas, so that the Greats from the East (Big Daddy) and West (the West Coast Guys) could meet head to head.

Home of the First Helicopter is Goodland, Kansas.
