Check out this candidate for the Darwin Award. These were taken at a co-workers house last night. Kid drove about 100mph (from the skidmarks) into a blind corner. This corner dips down to one side. Kid hits the dip, gets launched airborn and his front end hits a concrete wall/ditch thing. Pics don't really show how deep it is, but it's about 3-4ft drops.
If you notice, the wheel is INSIDE the cockpit. It entered from UNDER the car, the whole suspension was folded under/up by the impact.
Kid stumbled out, and his friends came up ~80, got him in the car and sped off. About an hour later, the cops/his father were there inspecting. The kid apparently was taken to the hospital, and the cops were on the way to issue an arrest. His father said this was the THIRD totaled car this jackass (19 years old) has done.
Man, it looks liek that front left wheel would have crushed his legs as it was forced back up into the cabin. Any details on how severe the kids injuries were.
He got out of the car and stumbled many times. His friends came up almost instantly... which makes me think they were watching him try to pull a stupidass stunt or what ever it was.
I cannot understand why the legal age to drive is 16 in most places. I don't know any 16 year olds that are mature enough and have the reasoning capability to be operating a 3000+lb automobile.
I can't think of many/any kids that didn't get into wrecks when I was in high school.
I started driving when I was 15. My daily driver was a 500hp blown camaro. I have never wrecked a car. The first accident I was ever in was when that jackass nicked my viper a year ago.
Of course, I'm also not a dumbass like 90% of the HS crowd.
well it makes sense because they cost so much less than cars and you dont have to keep insurance on them. they are much faster going and slowing too. you also dont have to worry about the passengers.

This kid was 19. How long do you want someone to wait until they get a license?
I wonder if taking your kid to a track (not dragstrip) but a track where he can flog it all weekend and learn something would be a good idea.
"Dad, can we go to Sebring this summer?"
"Not if you crash your car."

I think 21 is a good age. I think a car is a lot more dangerous than drinking is!
Also, if people wreck due to overwhelming stupidity, then the license should go bye-bye for a pretty good amount of time.
I don't think most 19 year olds are mature enough to be driving either. I know I was still doing stupid shit when I was 19.
I know some can handle it, but many if not most can't.
I do think it is an overwhelmingly good idea to get kids out on the track to learn what actually happens when you push a car. This kid going 100 into a 25 is asking to kill someone and he really should do some time. The licensing tests in this country are beyond a joke.
i bought a cobra and supercharged it and then a lightning truck and then a z06 and then a 03 cobra and then my viper all before i was 21. thats only like 2600 hp worth of cars and ive never done any shit like that...well, mabey my cars brakes were just a bit better than that piece of won-ton car.
you should have to go to a driving school before you can drive though, and not the bullshit where you watch people get drunk and wreck cars, the kind where you drive a car with a real instructor on a track or something.
