Actually, I want the CL600 and S600. Each have their purpose.
But, I've never owned a Mercedes, and just want feedback on how they are.
The SL600, the waiting list right know is 3-5 months.
I'm still debating on this one, as I like other sports cars, but buying 2 is cheaper per unit than buying one, and 3 is less than 2.
I order cars/SUV's every 3 years, began at 15 1/2(lots o' lawns mowed, used '75 3/4 long box 4x4 454-restored), saved up, then new since 1989(cash).It's SUV now, but I,ve always a Mercedes, and I've sold all my toys, last time in '01, so I would not be tempted, and finally get my license clean(November).
I usually order in Jan., and I'm seeing what I want.
I would go for the CL600 over the S600. The S is Mercedes' full size sedan. The CL is their top of the line coupe, and the CL is Mercedes top of the line car overall. Pretty much any Mercedes is going to have all sorts of luxury stuff in it at this level, but the CL has some extra goodies I would go for personally.
The CL600 is probably going to be well over $130k though, just food for thought. I believe the S would be $10-20k less, depending on options.
As for the cars themselves, I haven't owned one, so I can't speak from personal experience, but I do know a lot of folks that have them. I think it's a lot like BMW. With BMW, lots of people whine about the new styling, and the heavier cars. I LOVE mine and like it way more then older BMW's. Mercedes is the same thing. I hear people say the styling has gone downhill, but I disagree. I also hear their quality has taken a nose dive, but from comparos I've read, it seems to be really the lower end cars that suffer from that.
Drive one and you will see what they are all about. A friend of mine has a CL500 and it's a REALLY nice car.
They have a 5speed auto, but you can shift by tapping the shifter left and right.
These will be for dailies, with an Escalade.
I will be looking to purchase a few sports cars after, that's why I was asking about the SL600.
Because I could buy an '02 GTS, and do a few mods to it for thet price of SL600.
I'm sorry, I was going to get an SRT, but saw one(silver), when does the coupe come out?
Have you ever driven 2 identical cars ecxcept for transmissions? I can assure you that they are no fun at all except when going straight, they feel numb and I've found them to be a distraction.
Yes I have, I love manual's in sports cars, but auto's in my truck('01 2500HD Duramax 4x4) and Escalalde.
These are not to replace a sports car, but for daily drivers.
Also, when you want to play, I've driven tiptronic/paddleshifter, almost the same as here, it reminded me almost of a slapstick shifter, it's fun.
Nissan has the best car company commercials. All the big 3 do is brag about the incentives on their boring, shitty product.
You know how I hate to start shit, But. The Yuppie Murano commercials Suck, there color combinations Suck, they let the little kunts in Commyfornia studio make all the color calls. Finally, what really sucks is they still have 2003 on the lots here(because of their yuppie pitching) and delayed building our 2004. First it was second week of September, then end of September, then the first part of October, Now Middle of October. Sucks. We would have got a 2003, but for some reason no dealers order them with Trailer Hitches. Christ they tow 3,500 Lbs. I guess no yuppies tow Jet Skis, etc.
