Drove an SRT today...

Honestly, not overly impressive compared to the ACR.

The car definately looks better in person than in pics. The interior is very stylish and comfortable (I love the seats). What I did notice is the lack of sex appeal. No curves. Gen 1 and 2 have nicer lines.

As far as my drive goes, I found the ride to be way too stiff. I bounced the whole time I drove it! Throttle response is nice, and there's lots of power (my ACR has 3:55 gears and is way more fun to drive), but it seemed to pale in comparison to the ACR in almost every aspect. I was however impressed with the cornering of this car, as it seemed to hold the line a lot better than my car (I'm not a track racer, so my opinion is just based on how it felt to me). The brakes are really weird. Every time I touched them the car lurched forward too much.

I am not a professional test pilot, I just wanted to give you guys my first impressions. For now, I'm sticking with the ACR, but in the future if finances allow it, I would love to add the convertible to the stable.

Here are some pics:

We looked at the car before we bought ours.

She really didn't like the looks, not muscular enough for her.

Re: Drove an SRT today...

I agree Greg... I thought the brakes were pretty nice - but as far as everything else - just didn't appeal... Looked too family'ish - inside and out...

And the 6 inches of truck - yikes... (because the convert folds down into that space)...

What did I like? Well, I personally liked the electronic foot peddle thingie for adjusting...

Yeah, oh, and thats the other thing...The sightlines in this car are aweful. When you look over your right shoulder, all you see is black plastic, and the sky!

Re: Drove an SRT today...

Yeah, I drove one too. I didn't get to kick it but the brakes took my breath away. You can tell the suspension geometry is very different on this car.

Other than that, I didn't like it. The electric pedals are neat - and they did a good job with the pedals in general. Visibility is wierd, but I think thats just cause its different. It just didn't feel like I was driving a Viper, but admittedly, my opinion might be jaded.

My second Viper will be an RT/10.

Re: Drove an SRT today...

If you have an ACR or a suspension-modded Gen2, you will not see much improvement in the SRT at all. The ride is very jiggly. The brakes are absolutely awe-inspiring, but that's about all to the car that is.
