Ok he got a random e-mail from an unknown source and he makes his decision on that. Umm I think the sender of the e-mail would outline what really happened. Lets see, he didn't get the e-mail direct but was directed to delete it? Hmmmmmmm here is what might have happened.......RSI e-mails Flanders and threatens to take away their advertising money....Flanders lieks to use the word Legal to explain or justify things so he e-mails Vipermad giving a direct order to delete the thread because of Legal Issues. Flanders keeps Vipermad out of the loop and Vipermad in truth does not know and is only doing as he is told. Flanders is able to hide the dirty secret of backdoor deals and kissing yet anothr customer's a$$.
Interesting you VCA members actually think the board is there for you and you are the Customer. Reality is you are the fish, the meat or the food source if you will, and the vendors line the pockets of Flanders. The website is run with bias in favor of the DC and the vendors. That is why you have websites branching off from each other. It is no different in the Cobra Scene. It grows to big and has to rely on vendors, the interest is no longer to the members, rather the vendors.
Viper Alley could very well end up like this because of growing pains. Someone might be calling you guys windbreakers some day....nature of the beast my fellow Americans. It is no longer fun and becomes a business and we are simply numbers.

Then again, we dont accept advertising from vendors nor do we endorse them. This site is run purely on contributions from its own members. Hard to sway us with ad money when it amounts to a gigantic ZERO.
Joker - maybe - but surely the real value of these forums is exchanging ideas and info, and making new friends - that we get to meet at events etc. I've met several online that I really look forward to meeting in person when I'm in the USA next year - and those friendships alone make it all worthwile. The common interest in Vipers is what creates the community - the rest is politics.

Who knows - I dont have a crystal ball and cant look 5 or 6 years into the future; ViperClub started out much like this, alot of people just bullshitting on a website. When DC got involved, alot changes - it became "official". Don't forget, it was only recently that the Club purchased the website. Up until then it was just a regular website.
I can't speak for the motiviations, but its been clear for a long time that while the club purchased the site, the site is not represenatitive of the members, but rather corporate interests. As much as they make a hype for the Web Committee, Chris here has said the the WC has very little to do with how the site is run.
We are supported by our own means and nobody is here to make a buck. So, unless anyone here thinks DC is going to swoop in any buy us out (not likely) its unlikely that we'll follow the same path.
The WC exists just so DC can say they have been responsive to the "members'" needs. I agree that it basically does nothing to enhance the website or the "Viper experience."
