the music industry sued 261 people today for downloading music.....14 in the north texas area.....and they are going to keep doing it, and they expect you to go to www.riaa.com and print a form that says you are going to stop downloading songs and will delete all of them off your computer, then you have to sign it and have it notorized and mail it in, then you have amnesty and can't get sued.
Fuck them I have never once in my life burned a CD, I don't even have a burner. I will continue to d/l music until I get sued and then when I do they can't do shit because I haven't broken any copyright law at all. I am not signing shit or paying for CD's as technology continues to increase. We have the whole internet at our disposal and I will continue to fuck the system over and over again. The RIAA can kiss my ass.
No...but I am not paying the outrageous prices for their fucking CD's. I'd rahter d/l the best song out of the whole CD and listen to it at my computer. fuck the RIAA.
What if the song you download is the "money" song that stands the best chance of helping the musician earn a living?
Most "rock stars" make less than alot of the guys on this very board make. Now I'm not saying that the RIAA is totaly right on the money... but I am saying that a lot of the people whom you probably think are living bling-bling....actualy aren't.
A lot of the money is made touring and with merch.... but publishing and points on the album as well as mechanicals and other variables also make the difference to a lot of artists.
With d/loading the way it is nowadaze... many bands don't see the push that they used to... that's key to breaking a band. The moneys not there anymore ... it's slash and burn.

How do you fuckin figure? They make MILLIONS!! Boo-hoo, they sure are hurting for cash. :bawling:
you are so gonna get fucking owned.
As for me I mostly download music of bands that I buy cd's of and/or go to concerts. Doesn't make it totally right but I do respect their right to make $$.

Hey, I respect their right to earn money as well. BUT, Im not going to buy a crappy CD just for 1 good song. I DL some of their music, if I like what I hear, I buy the CD. I make sure is worthy of buying. I will buy the D though if most of the music is good. :thumb:

LOL... I didn't realize you were in the biz!
I suppose you believe everything you see on empty-vee???
Some artists are making the mega bank. Most of the players you see backing a solo artist don't make near what you think they do. In a band... most of the royalties go to who has the publishing rights. 50% goes to the lyrics and the rest is split between whoever wrote the music. If you play on an album you get points and mechanicals... Points on how many albums are sold... mechanics for playing. Then think about what is involved in making an album....pre-production... engineers... PRODUCERS who can cost shitloads... studio time... hiring players if need be.... then think about the layout... the artwork.... what is going to be on the album.... then you have promotion... greasing wheels to get the shit played.... all the people at the company who are working to make it happen for you. Then if it goes... thik of what a tour costs... the sheer production... the food... the crew... the transpo... the lodgings... and a whooooole lot more.
All of this has to be payed back to the label. Unless you have a hit album... ya don't make as much as what they lead you to believe on tv. When you see the bling... most of those guys are living on it like people live on credit... cuz that's what it is.
I would suggest you talk to slaughter as he is an intelectual prop attorney and he could explain it a little further.
Anyway... I know nothing about music and the above was just how the fuck I figured. Go download some disturbed... they're really cool guys!
