First Ticket in the Viper.SHIT I made it a year and a half without a problem.
90+ in a 65-- Ouch It looks like I'm off to trafic school. The cop was pretty cool, said he could have impounded my car and took my lisence. He said he got up to a 100 and wasn't catching me.
What MP said...get THE attorney that handles THE MOST traffic tickets for that court...typically THAT attorney takes 200 - 300 tickets into court at once and offer to pay the fines and court costs if the charges are dropped, implying that he will CONTEST all of them, clogging up the system...in a big city, they take the money, in lieu of filling the docket with traffic tickets...
And if that isn't gonna work in your area, tell your attorney to plan on continuing the case at least five times...start making the list of reason's for the delay now...And when you finally make it into court, hopefully the cop has long forgotten about your ticket...I actually got lucky once and the cop was on vacation...DISMISSED!!! You're gonna have to get creative on this one!
Attorney is going to cost me $1,000. But - I've done this before. Last time the hearing lasted all of 30 seconds and I got Reckless Speed reduced to a regular speeding with a $50 fine.
I hired a guy who was a prosecutor in the courthouse I my hearing is in for 20 years. He knows all the judges and all the prosecutors. I don't want to get in front of a judge - I want this plead out before it gets that far!
If you need an attorney in the bay area who is good with traffic tickets, i know of someone that a couple of my friends have used with very good results.
The cop said I could go to traffic school and have it whiped off my record. The reason is that I havn't had a ticket in over 18 months.(It's been 8 years actually)
Will the ticket say reckless driving on it,or just the code for that offence ?
In Virginia 20 over is automatically a reckless - even if it doesnt say it on the ticket (so I am told).
When I went with my attorney to the one prior, I watched as a guy got up who had been busted doing nearly 100mph. He didnt have an attorney and said his speedometer was broken. The judge laughed and gave him 90 days in jail! You should have seen the guy, he freaked. All he could say was "I'll lose my job"; so the judge said he could serve his times on weekends! Thats a years worth of weekends spent in Jail!

For that kind of speed, I'd take a lawyer.

Anyone heard of "cruel and unusual punishment"? Maybe this judge should be put in jail for being a Nazi. Great use of my tax dollars.
[quote=par] And they cut deals with drug dealers and the real scum of the earth. Makes you wonder if justice truly is served doesn't it?

Thats exactly my gripe. They pull us over and rape us with unfair accusations, overpriced fines, and sometimes ridiculous jail sentences for what? Speeding! They are willing to really hurt the lives of successful, professional, hard-working contributors to society. Then cut deals with the scum of the earth. Theres common sense and reason
Oh Clownshoe, as to what this costs, I spent $2500 on my attorney for a speed contest ticket. That was a misdemeanor so I had to hire a criminal defense attorney. Traffic attorneys usually charge $500-1000/case.
[quote=SmokinV10] I believe you cant go to traffic school for speeds 20mph over the speed limit. Im pretty sure this is the case, but you may want to check on that.

It's pretty much all up the the judge's discretion. He's the MAN and can make the call.
