They open at noon on Sundays. The cost to race will be $25/person for 30 min or we can go for 45 min..dont have the cost on that yet. They can do two types of racing....endurance and heat. It seems to me that this group would probably like the endurance racing better. They will call me on monday with exact pricing but I have tentatively booked noon next sunday. I will need a heat count and a commitment to go from everyone who will want to participate. Im guessing there will be 10ish people, maybe more/less, but since I need to put a deposit down of 50% I dont want anyone to flake. Let me know what you guys think, what kind of racing, and if you are coming. Post here or PM..either is fine.
I'm in for however long y'all want to go, but I've done this before and I'm telling you 45 minutes is more than most people can take. I've gone 45 and by that time the skin is starting to come off your hands if you don't have gloves. To give you an idea, their normal session length is 8 minutes.
Don't expect high finesse racing ... this is bumper cars for big boys. Put 'em in the fuckin wall NASCAR stuff. The cars handle like ass and they have no pickup. Your best bet is to stand on it the whole way and use your unfortunate friends who take the wide line as berms.
Eric, is this place kosher with us bringing our own helmets? I don't want to share lice buckets with the riff raff.
Everyone, you need to get in on this. No matter how badly I am going to work each and every one of you over, it's still a lot of fun to see who will come in 2nd. I would recommend 30 minutes, as well. It does get a bit tedious and your forearms will thank you, as well.

Yeah, I always use my own helmet. Only problem is that it's a full-face and without much airflow you get pretty hot. Also they bitch at you about keeping the visor down. If you use theirs they will make you wear a hairnet before you put on the open-face lice bucket.
I can't wait to see Smokin' in a hairnet.
One other thing I feel obliged to mention/warn y'all about is car safety in the parking lot. Admittedly we will be there during the daytime so it may be moot, but a friend's truck got broken into at night in their lot. About three rows from the building too. Their security is non-existent and the cops that came told us this had happened before at RPM and that there have been 250 car break-ins along that stretch of the I-35 corridor in the last year.
Carpool in rentals? Might be a good idea to NOT driver Vipers if we can help it. I can drive my big ol' beater Extradition and pick up some of you guys at the hotel if you like.
I'm not worried! I figure that if we have a whole row of Vipers, there will be enough people around staring at them to scare away potential thieves. I'm not driving my Viper to Austin to ride around in an Expedition. I have insurance.
This place is safe , I have parked my viper there many times with no problems. They may let us park up front by the door , they did once before. You can bring your own helmet or use the disposable helmet liners that they give you with the helmet that they provide. If we go on Sat. night they have a car show out front from around 6:30 to 9:30 pm. I have seen a few really nice classic cars, hot rods and local Vipers at this gathering. Also the Hawaiian Tropic State finals are going on down the road at Sam's Boat on Sat. from 9:00 pm to ? .
