Drinking with dear old dad!

My father turned 54 today. I took my family out for dinner We agreed there that for every pint he drank, I would drink one as well. Same went for me, if I drank one, he would too. Alsoh ad a few shots before they showed up.

Needless to say that the meal wass like 120 and the tab was 120 lol! Then it was home to eat cake. Gave him a 71 Chevelle SS454.

I am sooooo fucking trashed. And it's not even latte yet hah!

time to go watch animinal house!

Wouldja buy ol' man Serious a nice Chevelle SS? I'm closer to being your dad's age than yours. Think of all the wisdom I've imparted ... all the discipline I've doled out to you over the years. Be nice to unca' Serious.

Sweet gift. It must feel good to give something like that to your parents. The first year that I was actually making money after I got out of school, I bought my parents a home theater for X-mas. Damn, I thought I gave a nice gift. A frikken SS454. Damn. That is pretty sweet.

Re: Drinking with dear old dad!

Ugggg... it's morning. I go to the beach today! WOOHOO!! 4 day weekend!

My father always talked about 2 cars when I was growing up; His chevelle and camaro.

He had a 67 Camaro RS, Yellow and black. Had a stroked 396" worked motor, duel quad and a 5.xx (cheap gas must have been fun) rear gear. Him and my grandfather built the car up, before he started getting sick all the time. It was a true street stormer. He loved the car. He sold it before leaving for Viet Nam, 1968.

His chevelle was purchased when he returned from Viet Nam in 1972. He kept it show-room new, black on black. It was stolen in 1974 and found all smashed up and partially burned.

So, my goal is to give him both cars back. The Camaro will have to be worked on prior to giving it to him. I have photos (not to great) to go by, but I want to give it to him just the way he remembered it. The chevlle was much easier, since it was 100% stock when he owned it.

Jennifer (wife) wants a 56' T-Bird. She has wanted one since she was a little girl, she knows more about them than I do! So, when the house is finished, there will be one sitting in the garage with a big bow on it for her as well.

My parents have done a lot for me, and I want to do things for them in return. My dad has been having health problems for years now, parkinsins and heart problems, so he has been also batteling depression. I haven't seen him this excited about ANYTHING in years! It was well worth the money and then some!

James

The only thing my father wants these days is to see me in a coffin. Keep the relationship. It must be nice.

You're a good son Maxx.

Now ... let's talk about unca' Serious. I'm not all that healthy ... I have a real bad case of ragweed drip this morning and it might just take me out. You never know. Sneezing today, gone tomorrow.

Re: Drinking with dear old dad!

I am Sicilian, French Canadian back ground. Grand parents came here in 1903. Wife can only trace her heritage back to a slave farm in GA. We belive the tribe was in South Africa. To put it mildly, the quote was " get out of the house, loose the number, and don't look back. I don't know you and if I am broken down on side of road, don't stop."

About three years before this, He broke his hip on an icey walk infront of house. I was the only one home. Not only Diagnosed the fracture. Splinted and treated as best as possible before fire department arrived.(was EMT at time)
Lastly, I beat the ambulance to hosp, and still notified the other Half of family. Even worked with doctor as to type of repair done on hip. (Looking at Xray and type of fracture. we decided on plate and screw. there was no damage to great neck of femur.

Re: Drinking with dear old dad!

No he will not. Since he is full Italian, and is an exact copy if my grandfather(he died in the late 1970's). Since then, the first male of the family is the head of the family group. My two Aunts are whipped by my father. My mother is the one that I am pissed about. She was denied the right to see our marriage, and can only see me and the wife on the QT.

This is one of the reason I am concerned about having kids. I don't want to turn into him, if the kid goes gay. And I have his temper.( In an effort to talk to him, before the wedding, I removed a solid oak door, frame, and the 2x4 framing from the wall when he slamed the door infront of me.
