Buddy buys this used F-150 last June. Car runs fine and everything and I went in a couple of rides with him. He always finds that the car smells funny. It did, but just a hint of unpleasant odor, nothing to get worried about.
He has the car cleaned 3 times. Car gets worse over the summer as the heat develops. About 3 weeks ago I was with him and he asked me to smell the inside of his car. The stench was overpowering. I was dry heaving. He asked me if it was normal? After vomiting on my front lawn, I said "no" and told him to go back to the dealer. He has to drive with the windows open all the time. Long story short, the dealer can't even get the stench out.
But all this time nobody can identify what the smell is...
Buddy just gave me a shout at noon and told me that the dealer checked with the police and the license bureau and there had been in a death in the car, and apparently the body had gone undiscovered for many days in the heat.
Dealer actually took the car back which surprised me. I think I would be sick to know that the last 3 months I had been inhaling that stench...my buddy is pissed off, and rightly so...
I thought this type of info has to be disclosed...is there a potential lawsuit here???
No, they wouldn't have to disclose that. Sounds funny, but I've actually sold a couple of cars that people died in. One old man had a heart attack, and a kid pilled himself to death in the other. It's terribly morbid, but not illegal.
Once had a package of Perdue chicken breasts fall out of the grocery bag and into a "litle truck crevice" in my Mom's car. A 1972 MB 300 SEL. Hell of a sedan. Anyway, I remember we didn't find it for a good month...and the stench was incredible. I mean, we were crying in the car whenever we had to take a ride. A/C on high with the windows open. I took everything apart in the cars interior. Doors, seats came out...found nothing. Never occurred to me to check the trunk...which actually smelled no worse than the inside. The stench you described just reminded me of this funny mistake. Eventually found the package which I had to pick up with gloves and BBQ tongs. I must have hit the inside of that trunk with 5 bottles of lisol disinfectant spray. God, I swear I can still remember that stench!
My mom had a crock pot full of rotel dip that she was taking to a party or something, and it spilled in the car. That fucking car smelled for as long as I can remember! A rotten corpse.......yeah, I can see how that would be worse!
Heh.. how funny.. after a few days putrefaction kicks in bigtime.. Esp if there were any flies etc that had access to the vehicle. The Body essentially will liquefy all soft internals which will be leaking out of whatever orifices are available.. Imagine stinky red mush leaking all over the seats and carpets.. Brings back the fond memories of decay experiments from my Bio days :thumb:
Hope he never dropped a open candy bar on the floor, dusted it off and ate it. the "3" second rule would not apply there in my book.

City, that is halarious. Reminds me of that movie "Mr. Mom" when he uses BBQ tongs to pick up the diaper.
Roadkill, thanks for posting that pighead. Might be similar to what my buddy inhaled for 3 months...come to think of it, I will forward this link to him. I am sure he will appreciate it
i dont think there is a lawsuit there. if one was filed, it would be minimal at best and would have a hard time getting by summary judgment. your friend should give the dealership hell and they should take care of him....more of a PR matter than a legal one. IMHO
WTF is your deal with France? Next thing you know, you are gonna try to make some stupid cut on France when someone talks about tire pressure, or gravelling their driveway or shooting their neighbor's poodle.. Let it go already.
