Ok, we aren't in the best economy, but wouldn't you think that people would want your business... I have noticed this for almost a year... Some examples:
* Need a dumpster for the construction at my house. Ended up calling the guy 5 times trying to get one to my place. He didn't call me once prior to finally dropping it off...
* We are expanding here in our building - I bring down the property manager - tell her what I need and when - she tells me they'll run the square foot numbers, etc... and get back to me the next morning... Guess what - that was 6 days ago...
* I wanted to refinance - USBank tells me they can only go so low - I tell them I have another large bank offering me a lower rate, etc... "then I guess you should pursue them" - so I recently refinanced with the other bank - and took everything out of my USBank accounts...
Etc... the list is endless... Is it just me - or why are people this way in an economy where it is dog-eat-dog...?
It's not just you. I've experienced the same thing. People say they'll get back to you and they don't. Also, when companies make mistakes they just will not own up to them. The phrase "The customer is always right" has gone right out the window. It's disappointing and I now always dread when I'm going to have to deal with service personel.
I had a bank screw up my order for new checks twice in a row, leaving me without checks. I went in for the third time asking for checks, immediatly, and I was told that could not be done. I transferred all of my accounts to another bank on the spot. Felt pretty good.
Maybe I am not referring to customer service - maybe more with the thought of "here is my money - I want your product/service - why are you fucking it up"...
Just amazes me that in times like we are in now - people don't seem to necessarily care if they get the business or not... That is what I am trying to say above...
Or, calling Viperdays to sign up 4 weeks ago, and then getting a brash email two days ago saying that if they don't get any more people that want to drag - they'll cancel that portion... Ummmm, sweetheart, check your emails, people are throwing money at you for the past month...
i couldnt fucking agree more... this is something i've been bitching about for a long time now.. customer service has gone to hell..
i'm fed up with banks as well.. i walked into my own bank inquiring about a new car loan, and after waiting 20 minutes and being put on a list of people waiting to speak with someone, the loan officer finally told me the best rate they gave on new cars was %9.9 so i turned around and walked out...
then i went to a smaller bank that i heard was loan friendly, and about 20 minutes later i had the loan and was transferring my accounts into said bank...
i was at a pizza place last night with my wife and ordered a pizza to dine in and two fountain drinks.. after seeing the girl behind the counter fill the cup 3 quarters of the way with shaved ice before filling the cup with soda, i asked for no ice.. she told me that they charge extra for that? ?? i was like WTF?? i'm not a cheap bastard, but thats ridiculous..
then we sat down at the table, and about 25 minutes later we here an announcement over the loud speaker that our pizza was ready... i had to walk all the way across the place to get my damn pizza myself, and to top it off, the pan was piping hot so they gave me paper plates as pot holders...
for a split second the lawboy in me told me to burn myself purposely and then sue the bastards.. what kind of a place makes you serve yourself? i would expect that at mcdonalds where my wife and i eat for $7, not at a place where a large pie is $16.50...
and if that wasnt enough, my wife finished her ounce of soda, and went back and asked for a refill.. sure enough they charge for that too!!! i mean my god, we're talking fountain soda here, not champagne...
AND IF I HAVENT BITCHED ENOUGH... i'm in the marketing profession, and it kills me to see this kind of shit.. i bust my ass to get people through the doors, and then these dipshit employees and policies turn them away...
every time a new client comes across my desk i make it a point to mystery shop their venue before our first meeting to try and get a feel for the place.. i had this one other pizza place as a client, so my wife and i went there for dinner one night to get a feel for the place... after waiting 10 minutes at the counter of an empty restaurant to place my order i knew things were going to be bad.. then i saw the "ring bell for service" bell... thats always a bad sign.. if the owner cant invest an extra $7 an hour to pay some kid to make sure customers dont have to hunt down an employee to make a purchase, then he sure as hell isnt going to comprehend a cost per thousand breakdown of his advertising campaign..
but anyway, we sit down at our table after outrageously overpaying for some dough, sauce, and cheese… 20 minutes later our food shows up, but something smells weird… low and behold our fucking garlic bread was moldy and no one realized it until AFTER it came out of the oven and I opened it up… somebody was obviously sleeping on the job...
But even after this, I still took him on as a client, since after all %20 of new business is still %20 percent of new business.. I try to be ethical but if the money doesn’t go to me it will go to some other jackass that doesn’t have a genuine interest in trying to help this guy…
So I make an attempt to come up with a marketing strategy for this guy based on what he told me his realistic company goals were… I hit all the major medias, come up with a few priced based promotions, run the numbers based on industry standard response rates and tell him this is what he needs to do to make the best attempt at achieving his goals..
But no, he doesn’t want to do that.. he only wants to advertise on television, running two spots for week, and he only wants to pay $250 for commercial production… after a futile attempt at talking some sense into him, I get the ole “no one knows my customers better than I do” speech.. well, guess what dipshit, YOU HAVE NO CUSTOMERS!! THAT’S WHY I’M HERE TO TRY AND SOLVE THAT PROBLEM!!
So after about 2 weeks of his ad running on the air twice a week, i get a call and he wants to meet… I drive my ass down there and I pretty much predicted what was going to happen to a tee.. he starts bitching to me about how his “marketing strategy” (all of the sudden he wants to call it that) isn’t working… WELL NO FUCKING DUH!!! I was so dumbfounded I couldn’t even make an attempt to act surprised… it took all of my strength and concentration to not stand up, grab him around the throat, and scream in his face that of course business sucks, YOU SERVE MOLDY GARLIC BREAD AND PEOPLE HAVE TO HUNT DOWN YOUR EMPLOYEES TO GIVE THEM MONEY!!
I try and tell all my clients that %80 of doing good business is all in the customer service.. I tell them that it costs 10 times more to generate new business than it does to retain old customers.. but its pointless, they don’t listen.. its even less successful than trying to talk sense into a teenager.. at least a teenager pretends to listen for gods sakes…
But yet, all of these people are living the American capitalist dream, owning their own business, and here I am working for someone else, watching %70 of the revenue I generate go into someone elses pocket.. buts that’s life I guess.. god damn me for not having loaded parents with deep wallets..
Dodge's customer service really sucks. All i wanted to know was what was the paint code for the viper gts and it took 3 days. Walmart's is really bad. I hate that place

Banks? I wanted to consolidate my two Viper loans into one. Both loans are with the same bank where I have had my checking/savings account for 10 years. They wouldn't do it. Said my credit wasn't good enough. I said "BUT YOU HAVE BOTH LOANS NOW!!!"
Interesting, I just interviewed for a Customer Service position. It would involve me working with Managers and fellow employees in identifying areas of concern. If I get this position, that means I will not have to deal with people like Lawboy! No more dealing with fricken customers! I am so tired of dealing with whiny attorneys and claimants! NO MORE CLAIMS!
I think I would be perfect for the position! Wish me luck, if I make the final cut I will be going before a panel or a firing squad is more like it.

Hell looking back if I was younger and not married, I would go for trying to be an attorney and pass law school. I argue the same thing on the opposite line but you get paid an attorney fee and I get paid beans. I am the stupid one. It is all the same thing and same debates except you get a fatter check.
