I liked the looks of this one. Like the Murcialago but more agressive.
Here is the press release:
Detroit/Sant'Agata Bolognese, 5 January 2003
Automobili Lamborghini officially opens its Fortieth Anniversary by presenting a ravishing proposal, dedicated to true Italian supercar fans, at the Detroit Motor Show.
The Lamborghini Concept Car was designed by Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Lamborghini Design. It continues and exalts the Barchetta concept, an open car of Italian tradition. This Concept Car has a more exclusive, aggressive and extreme design compared to the Murciélago from which it derives and compared to which is lower by 136 mm.
Its muscular design that interacts with aggressive outlines makes this Concept Car a total new proposal that heightens the standards of the Lamborghini Design language.
An uncompromising car - as in Lamborghini tradition - inspired by the mythical open racing cars of the Fifties that used to race the Targa Florio or in the Carrera Panamericana.
An extreme and exclusive car also in its upholstery: The streamlined headrests integrate the mobile air intakes and the asymmetrical leather cladding - the right hand side being in a different color and material compared to the left hand side - thus enhancing the driver-oriented cockpit so as to make it a real "Pilot Oriented Driving Machine."
Another feature worth noting is that different structural parts of the chassis have been re-designed to ensure an adequate torsional stiffness, even though roofless.
The Lamborghini Concept Car displayed in Detroit continues the tradition of the famous open 12-cylinder models of the "House of the Bull," from the 350 GTS to the Miura Roadster, up to the Diablo Roadster.
[quote=Jeff M] Thats a sweet car. I'd be afraid to drive the thing though. You couldnt leave it parked anywhere without mob surrounding it.

the baby lambo is a V10 lambo. It's going to be sold under the audi brand supposedly.
If you want to see something awesome, talk yourself into getting a tour at Al Bertoni's V12 engineering down in Gilroy. That dude makes some real wild stuff for lambos. He takes brand new ones that people send him from all over the world and trick them out with carbon, suspension and HP upgrades. I saw a really mean SV with a center mounted quad exhaust and a midmounted carbon fiber ram air system which absolutely kicked ass. Then again, i cant spend 300K on a car and another 200K on upgrading it... There's got to be a limit even to my excesses
For the first time in over a decade, Italian sports car manufacturer Lamborghini will offer a second model line as of 2003. The completely new Lamborghini model, named Gallardo (pron. : ga:yàrdo), will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.
The new Lamborghini takes its name from a famous fighting bull breed, selected since the 18th century by bull breeder Francisco Gallardo and then incororated by Don Antonio Miura.
Fierce, robust - black or grey - the Gallardo bulls were renowned for their courage and also for their power and aggressiveness until the so-called last 'third' of the corrida.
The new Lamborghini Gallardo will be a mid-engined four-wheel drive sportscar in true Lamborghini tradition, powered by an all-new V10 cylinder Lamborghini engine with 5 litres of displacement and a stunning 500 hp. Figures that will guarantee an outstanding performance.
Power transmission will be through a 6-speed gearbox with a traditional gear shift lever or a new sequential 'e-gear' with shift paddles at the steering wheel.
Production of the all-new Lamborghini V10 cylinder engine has already started on the newly built assembly line at Lamborghini's own engine facility at the Sant'Agata Bolognese plant.
Audi will share the platform with it's upcoming Audi RSR supercar.
[quote=par] The audi just doesn't do it for me... It's mostly right but there is something disturbing with that car, can't put my finger as to what it is.

The pic of the blue one kind of looks like the cowl and the cockpit of the old Ford tri-motor prop plane. Kind of neat in a retro-way, but I don't like it; wouldn't buy it.
