A few think it may be a good idea to post a user's ip address as a way to create consistancy among posters and eliminate people from posting irresponsible messages. I peronally would like a equal playing field where everybody knows as much as everybody else, so far that is not the case and is causing some trust issues on my side. How is this site different than .com is what I keep asking myself.
I agree that IP address should be shown with each post. Other message boards do it and it seems to work well. If anyone needs an example please refer to this message board...
I will be the first to say that many will STOP POSTING AND QUIT THE BOARD if their IP address is available for all to see. DONT BE STUPID. Just like many dont want their home addresses on here.

The difference between this site and others is that you get to control how it operates through a democratic system. It's not perfect, but we think it's better than anything else out there. This site is for the members.

I will bow to what the majority wants, if that is showing IP's then that's what we should do. Let's have a poll on the topic.
Even though i am against showing IP's, as i think it defeats the purpose of an AE, and i think AE's bring value and humour to this site, i will do what the members decide. The price of democracy is that we sometimes has to do things we don't want to. Now if you this polls outcome is against showing the IP address i trust that you'll be fine with that Nathan?

I don't think you are here to get me. Why when I am talking directly to Pj, do you assume that I am talking to you? All I want here is to know what you know that's all. If you think this is unrealistic, well them let me be a moderator so I can be in the know. I realize that you have a lot invested and that's fine, but let's not say this is a equal playing field when there are people that have information that I don't. For the record, I have never, ever said I have a problem with any moderator, if you are going to try to debate, please do not put words into my mouth, it's not fair. I am trying to better this system and I don't want to have to clear things with anyone before I post, or before I request a poll.
one last thing, why do people try to make things personal? It's not the best strategy.
