On topic, who cares about repost. Is this one stock worth picking up and if so, which one, Chrysler or GM?

Yes, what does everyone think? I never mess with the stockmarket, but I am going to get an account set up tomorrow. There has to be some opportunities out there. GM is at the price that it was back in the 50s. I couldnt imagine it going much lower?

Chrysler is a privately held company. No stock traded.
GM is in no position to be buying anything. Cerburus, who owns Chrysler is more likely to take over GM. GM is close to bankruptcy.

True, but what are we talking about worse case here?
My uneducated guess would be that before GM went belly up that someone domestic or european would buy them. Or the Gov would step in. No way will the Gov let someone like GM/Ford go under. So either way the stock cant get much worse.

The Dallas Morning News reported today that GM and Ford held merger talks back in July and GM bailed.

Does it really matter? They are no longer relevant.
Jeep can't stand on their own, especially now that they are heavily reliant on Dodge platforms.
Dodge only has trucks.
Chrysler rode the 300 into the ground.
GM will get a Heavy-duty truck platform that can actually compete with Ford and the two mode hybrid developed with MB.
Cerberus is in the money business, not the manufacturing business.
